Hello! my great wonderful friends coming your way is a great honour for me. I will kindly indulge you to spend some time to read this piece titled : GOODNEWS
In the OT, there was an over the top news that emanated from the spirit (the Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God) of a man of God (MoG). As we step into the page of 2Kings 7, we begin to glean and sap from the first verse to the ninth verse that Samaria found itself in a very sympathetic but despicable and loathsome situation. A famine that had been occasioned by a siege reached a crescendo because women who carried babies in their wombs for 9 months blocked their bowels of mercy, became outrageously heartless and cannibalistic instinct was aroused in them – they conspired to feast on their children. Such was how things degenerated.

A MoG, came to make an announcement that seemed to make nonsense of common sense and economic logicalities. This news was way-way over the top or too good to be true. The prophet Elisha said “tomorrow by this time…………..”
This good news was too over the top for the King’s Economic Adviser. For such a King to have him as his economic adviser meant that the man had proved his mettle. Grant me the latitude to make some guesses (the preacher’s liberty) about this man: graduated the Harvard, Oxford and Cambridge of his day; he was a professor of Agric Economics; had supervised over 15 Ph.Ds.; had over 120 publications in well-respected academic journals. In fact his pedigree was unmatched in his day. I am sure he could look at some economic indicators (micro and macro) and pontificate with impeccable exactitude where the nation’s economy would in 2yrs, 5yrs and 10yrs and it was as he said. He was academically heavy, thick, tight and large.

When he heard the proclamation of the good news, in deed it was too over the top for him. He began to look at all the economic theories and concepts he knew and those he had propounded himself, looked at the present indicators, did all the permutations and concluded if the Lord were to open the windows of heaven this thing cannot be. He disdained God ability to do and perform. You know the story that ensued; the four lepers got to the campus of the Syrians and found they had run leaving every intact. They went into one tent ate, drank and carried silver, gold and clothing and hid them. They entered into another and ………… then they had a signal in their hearts and they said in v9 of 2Kg7: “we are not doing right.” Watch what followed: this is a day of good news and remain silent………. The Psalmist said; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Ps 96:2 and Ps 40:9 says; I have proclaimed the good news of his righteousness

Apostle Paul posited for this reason I was appointed a herald or preacher ………….. 2Tim 1:11
A herald or preacher announces and proclaims the gospel. Oh! I remember I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. Jesus said go into all the world and preach the gospel. Oh! My God! My God I can hear Apostle Peter say we have not followed cunningly devised fables. The gospel is the good news or news that is too good to be true or over the top news. The gospel is the power of God save everyone or whosoever. The gospel changes people; He delivers them; He frees them; He heals them; He brings people into the fullness of their manhood or womanhood. The good news is before I sinned I was forgiven. The good news is before I was born, someone died for me. The good news is before I was sold, I was bought back. The good news is before I was condemned, I was declared righteous. The over the top news is what Jesus did on the Cross was an over payment of all our sins past, present and future. Hallelujah
His death was your death, His burial was your burial, His resurrection was resurrection and His ascension was your ascension.
Go, stand in the temple (let add the street, ghettos, brothels, highways, by ways) and speak to the people all the words of this life. Act 5:20
