Is your Website ready for Google’s Mobile-First Index?

Google’s Mobile-First Index will rank all websites based on the mobile version of their content, even when the search takes place on a desktop computer.

If your website is not mobile responsive, it could have a negative impact on your search rankings. Some companies already have a mobile-specific version of their website setup under an m. domain, even so, Google recommends using a single responsive website instead.

The mobile-first index is predicted to roll out in the next couple of months, so it’s important to make sure your business is ready.

Here’s what you need to do….

#1 — Make your website mobile responsive so it displays correctly on all screen sizes.

#2 — Configure redirects on old m. mobile URL’s to point to the new responsive site.

#3 — Remove any mobile-URL specific configurations your site may have.

#4 — Setup rel=canonical on the responsive URL’s pointing to themselves.
