Google Disses Bitcoin & Crypto in New Video Ad

Watch the full vid here:

In Google's new video ad, they poke a little fun at bitcoin and crypto. They joke about the high cost of mining cryptocurrency, and insinuate it is not real money. They also tease a popular canned response from most crypto advocates that "money is not real," with the cute response of "you're really going to live that lie."

Edit: @not-important made a good point in the comments. The first call he answered was the Nigerian prince scam call, so the correlation is that bitcoin is a scam as such. Thanks for pointing that out.

Overall, this is a lighthearted video ad to promote a new google service to screen callers before you answer your phone. The accusation that consumption of power is a problem with crypto is nothing new, or that we haven't heard before.

Yeah, but they are insinuating that all crypto is a scam, with the crypto guy falling for an obvious "prince scam"
for me it's a bearish ad :-(

Meh, the mainstream corporations will always push bearish news. Yeah, they did kind of link the prince scam to the crypto in that way.

Fuck google. I hope they get replaced and realize the world doesn't revolve around them.

Hopefully, but at this point we are addicted to Google. We need a shift in mindset, a change in culture.

The irony here is that Google is centralized and it controls all our data.

Exactly! I’m confident they would also love to have centralized control over our payments and that data. They will never support a decentralized crypto!

They just scared to loose control.

Inb4 gcoin comes out next year

Google should not de-market cryptos. They might assume they can alter peoples' acceptance for cryptos, but they are wrong!
