I've been an Android user for about four or five years now and hadn't really ever considered going back to using an Apple device until using the Nexus 5x on Google's Project Fi. I got the 32 Gb Ice (minty green) model and was geeked up to ditch my contract with Sprint and sell my eternal soul and data to our Alphabet overlords but it wasn't meant to be a smooth ride.
Note to anyone reading this who thinks they're funny: When spammers text you, if you pretend you're a bot and copy and paste the same message about pressing 1 for more information and then homeboy reports you - google will suspend voice data for two months and act like they have NO idea why you can't make or receive phone calls all the while still charging you full price for your plan. They sent me a replacement SIM, a replacement device (refurbished - of course, negating the value of my NEW phone if I were to resell it down the line) and finally, after hours and hours of emails and phone calls (from another line) they told me someone reported me for abuse.
Eight months later I'm driving home, using the phone for GPS and it suddenly restarts and gets stuck in the infamous boot loop - now the past few weeks of my phone touch sensor being strangely hot made sense. After some back and forth with customer service they ship me out another refurb device and 3 weeks later the phone has started freezing - requiring me to force reboot the device and leaving me wondering how much longer I have before this one kicks the bucket.
Complaining aside, I can't think of an android based phone that I would actually be excited to use. They pump them out so often that they're bound to be filled with bugs and if you pay attention, you'll realize that Google won't even support updates past a year or two(tops), the death date for Nexus 5x and 6P is September of this year. I bought this phone last Summer. Thanks, Obama.
