Acts 6:1-7

6 Now in those days when the disciples were increasing, the Greek-speaking Jews began complaining against the Hebrew-speaking Jews, because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution.+ 2 So the Twelve called the multitude of the disciples together and said: “It is not right* for us to leave the word of God to distribute food to tables.+ 3 So, brothers, select for yourselves seven reputable men*+ from among you, full of spirit and wisdom,+ that we may appoint them over this necessary matter;+ 4 but we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 5 What they said was pleasing to the whole multitude, and they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and holy spirit, as well as Philip,+ Prochʹo·rus, Ni·caʹnor, Tiʹmon, Parʹme·nas, and Nic·o·laʹus, a proselyte of Antioch. 6 They brought them to the apostles, and after praying, they laid their hands on them.+
7 Consequently, the word of God continued to spread,+ and the number of the disciples kept multiplying very much+ in Jerusalem; and a large crowd of priests began to be obedient to the faith.+

Psalms 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19

33 Shout joyfully, you righteous ones, because of Jehovah.+
It is fitting for the upright to praise him.
2 Give thanks to Jehovah with the harp;
Sing praises* to him with a ten-stringed instrument.

4 For the word of Jehovah is upright,+
And everything he does is trustworthy.
5 He loves righteousness and justice.+
The earth is filled with Jehovah’s loyal love.+

18 Look! The eye of Jehovah watches over those fearing him,+
Those waiting for his loyal love,
19 To rescue them* from death
And to keep them alive during famine.+

John 6:16-21

16 When evening fell, his disciples went down to the sea,+ 17 and boarding a boat, they set out across the sea for Ca·perʹna·um. By now it had grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.+ 18 Also, the sea was getting rough because a strong wind was blowing.+ 19 However, when they had rowed about three or four miles,* they saw Jesus walking on the sea and getting near the boat, and they became fearful. 20 But he said to them: “It is I; do not be afraid!”+ 21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and right away the boat arrived at the land to which they had been heading.+
