This morning, I scanned the headlines and rather than talk about a past event such as today being the anniversary of the day the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki; I wanted to focus on an event that has been happening for quite awhile, IS happening today, and will obviously have future dire consequences for everyone on this Earth, regardless of your race, creed, political affiliation etc. A researcher from the University of Pennsylvania is conducting research in Norway on whether or not an individual can be pegged as a likely criminal by the government in their early childhood years.
This Pandora's Box has only one viable outcome, and that is the absolute control over us as individuals; no matter where we live. Government has always used fear as a tactic to get the masses in line, and this false promise of "your government will protect you" is always used as a very effective tool of control since the beginning of human civilization, and probably predates actual "civilization". Some people use fear as a motivator in their own personal relationships with friends, relatives and loved ones, but that is an issue to discuss another day.
The fact is that increasingly, our rights as individuals are being eroded and outright stolen from us by governments the world over. Every government seeks this control, regardless of what "political system" they have in place.
Something like this should have everyone up in arms and protest. Unfortunately, people still believe the lies of protection from an entity that only seeks more control. Remember this when "elections" happen wherever you are..
And also remember...
I totally agree governments will try more and more of high-tech surveillance and control. But I thing freedom fighters have the upper hand with strong encryption, P2P communications, blockchain based systems etc.

I agree that with using P2P communications and systems like this, tyranny will always be resisted. However, the slow creep of government into everyone's lives where I live seems unstoppable and a big reason of that is that people buy what the government sells them, even if it is based on lies and fueled by the theft of their hard earned money. Fear, unfortunately is a powerful motivator. Just look at our two presidential candidates by the two largest parties here in the States. Both major parties engaging in fear tactics to get their votes, because that is honestly all they have and the only card they can play. And people flock to it. Also, everything that the government sees as a threat to its monopoly on power will be targeted, including Steemit, crypto-curriences etc. This is not a local problem, its a world problem. I hope for the best and work for the best, and will always resist in ways I can, but my pessimism gets the better of me sometimes.
