Was over in Maspeth Queens for 'Machines in Music' exhibition and performance. As per usual I blew it and missed all of the cool workshops and such. On the 2nd day, as I was coming back into Bushwick I stumbled upon a bunch of street art and graffitti.
This is on some construction site fencing. So it will likely disappear quite soon. As the fence will either be repainted green, as all such plywood construction site fences are. Or the job will be done and the plywood will go back to the scaffolding company warehouse. Also to be re-painted. Best case scenario is that some folks will be able to dash in and rescue some of these when the guys come to dismantle the fencing/scaffolding.
This first one is not terribly impressive but I enjoy the humor. The juxtaposition of bubble-letters next to a figurative piece is cool too.
The skulls the colors and general style reminds me a lot of skateboard deck graphics from the 90's. I did not even see the pink skull right away.
Some wildstyle stuff creeping in the background, a bit of mesoamerican graphical elements. This is a little slapdash in the arrangement. Is it one artist? Several that are cooperating and not overlapping?
This full throated endorsement of hallucinogens is pretty much firing on all cylinders.
This appears to be the work of several artists overlapping with some run of the mill tagging around the edges. It is interesting that the warning sign is nailed over the artwork. It makes me wonder if the artists were commissioned for this work. I could see a developer doing such to diffuse criticism of insensitivity to the local community. Or maybe it was painted over, so they posted a new one.
I'm basically in love with this image I want to marry it and have little plywood and spray paint children.
In the midst of all this technicolor rioting a nice little monochromatic piece. It is a little art school cute. Obvious constructivist modernist influence. But very cool none-the-less.
Nice to meet you @russdaren. Thank you for sharing and wishing you much success on this platform. Kindest Thoughts,
