President Rodrigo Duterte gave an ultimatum until three pm on Monday (today) for all the board members and CEO of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) to submit a resignation.
It seems that the "WellMed" dialysis center is still processing the passed-away patients as if they are still on dialysis. The owner of that dialysis center is now had been arrested.
The President ordered that all board members of the Philhealth submit a resignation letter following the disclosure of irregularities in the use of Philhealth funds.
PhilHealth officials are scheduled to meet this afternoon with the President in Malacañang palace. The President wants to know about how the overpayment in one dialysis center went through without anyone noticing or would like to reveal about it and if it also being done in other dialysis centers or hospitals.
The President announced on Saturday that he will return to Metro Manila to revamp the Philhealth officials and possibly firing them from their posts and maybe prosecuted for their corruption.
But in spite of the controversy, the President said he still continues to trust the PhilHealth leader Dr. Roy Ferrer.
Now this issue in the health insurance that I use, the Philhealth could may well be good or bad for my own welfare. Good in the sense that I might not pay anymore surcharges to my hospital since all of it really is paid for by Philhealth as told to me by my friend who doesn't pay for her dialysis at a dialysis center in Manila.
The news might affect the dialysis patients also in a bad way but I do not want to think about it right now because it has a less possibility to happen. So I am looking forward for a good news since the corruption in the Philhealth is now revealed and it might lead to a better thing to happen for dialysis patients.
