Mobile phone operator Grameenphone is going to get a new number of schemes after the long wait. According to sources, the operator will be given a number scheme if the new application is made.

Besides, Banglalink, one of the country's leading mobile phone operators, is going to end the long-awaited new number scheme. In the same process the operator may be given the number.

In addition to '017', Grameenphone is going to get new code number (number schema) '013'. In order to know about this, Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Mustafa Jabbar said, "According to the needs and needs of operators, action will be taken. If we see their new series (number schemes), then it will be positive. "In reply to another question, the minister said," Grameenphone has not given number schemes even after getting the approval - maybe they did not need them at that time. Now maybe it's really necessary. We will look at the matter positively after sending the proposal to us considering the issue of the regulator (BTRC).

In a meeting of the Secretariat's Postal and Telecommunications Division, the Prime Minister's Information Technology Advisor Sajeeb Wazed Khan advised the mobile phone operators to allot another number (number schemes). Several sources present at the meeting confirmed the matter.

In the meantime, Grameenphone got the scheme 013 in August 2016. In view of the operator's application, the BTRC allocates this number scheme. At that time, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Mahmud Hossain said, "We received the approval number of the number schemes. Some development work will be done especially in the network. After this, we can start 013 soon. "He also said that the number of 10 million number allocated for Grameenphone number '017' is almost on the last track.

Note that in contrast to a number scheme, the operators can sell 10 million SIMs (including number). Whose numbers are 11 digits. This is the standard given by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Currently, the scheme '012', '013', '014' and '010' are empty between 0 and 10 in the country. In the United States, China, India and Nigeria, there are several number schemes that are known to exist. In countries which have more than 20 million people, more than one number scheme is used.
