I'm Grateful for Healthy Children

Sadly, two of my girls are really not feeling well. They have temperatures and we are giving them hydration little by little. Whatever they can keep down.

They're watching Thomas the Train today.

So why am I grateful for healthy children if they are sick? Because they don't get sick very often! This is very unusual for them. If anyone ever wonders why we keep our children home most of the time, it's because of this. I know there is a philosphy that if your children get sick a lot, they will be more immune to disease. Maybe there's something to that, but as a parent, we choose for our children to remain healthy. We also fortify their immune system in different ways than allowing it to fight of disease all the time.

On a lighter note, I don't know if you've ever heard the theme song for Thomas the Train, but guaranteed, it will get in your head and refuse to budge. Just a warning to any parents out there.

We call that an earworm! And yes it does. My sons loved Thomas and so do my grandchildren. Thomas has been around a long time! Sorry the girls are not well, but I am like you, I'd rather my children and grandchildren be well, so they too get fortified to build those immune systems.

I can't believe how many people tell us, "Oh, it's good for them to get sick - it builds their immune systems!" Except that once we do get sick it suddenly becomes much more difficult to stay well for a while. Which tells me something is WEAKENED, not STRENGTHENED.

We're getting some good cod liver oil for everyone this year. Get in some good Vitamin D, Vitamin A and Omega 3s. And probiotics. Get everyones' bodies as strong as possible. Much better than getting sick all the time and trying to console ourselves that it's making us stronger while we never have energy to do anything...

Amen!

Something must be in the air, my daughter got sick last night/this morning too. Sure hope it’s nothing contagious. I agree with not putting no your kids out there to constantly get sick in order to “build their immune system”.

Aw, hope you guys are all doing well now! We're pretty much better, but really going after strengthening everyone before Sukkot. That many people in one place, it seems like virus outbreaks are inevitable...

Yes we are all good now thank you! Not sure what it was, but she was the only one sick and it only lasted 24 hours.
Eat lots of immune-boosting foods! I have to go back and watch episode 3, but is this your first time at an American homestead?

Whew! Such a relief when only ONE kid gets sick instead of the whole crew...

Yep, we're working on that now. I think I may try a major sugar reduction for the next few weeks too - that would help with the immune building.

No, we were able to go to the homestead for Sukkot 2016 and we really enjoyed it, although it was quite a stretch for us to do and it was a little rougher than I'm hoping for this time.

The girls were enjoying (at first they said "yay we're sick!") it until they got really hot and tummies hurting. Cinders and ashes, they don't usually get this much screen time. @ironshield

In case you DON'T have this song stuck in your head, here you go. You can thank me latter. @ironshield

They're bouncing back now and thankfully the two year old is already better. Can't tell if Daniel is sick or not...

howdy sir gratefuleveryday! so sorry the kids are sick but they will get well in no time! God bless you guys!

Thank you, @janton! We appreciate the blessings and they are certainly getting well in no time - the two girls were already drastically improved by that evening and running around the yard and riding their bikes the next morning.

ahha! great job guys, well part of that has to be the super healthy diet that you all have right? Praise God well that's good to hear, what a blessing!

Heh, not so sure if their diet is THAT super healthy; but since they aren't sick all the time they seem to bounce back pretty quickly. If we get a couple things in a row it takes a lot longer, but we haven't had a cold for seven or eight months so they're in good shape right now.

hey not a cold in seven or eight months is amazing! does anyone put pressure on you guys to get vaccinations or what is you feeling about vaccinations?
