Yaaaaah! I am here again. I am so excited. This is my fifth day entry for the 62days gratitude Challenge. I hope you have been enjoying the vibes.

I am here to show gratitude for the kind of family I was privileged to be born into. They are just the best set of kinds to know. I have not had any reason for regret yet because this people gave me the right atmosphere at home to grow into the man I am today.

I always feel desperate when I want to go home because I know I will be going back to meet lots of smiles at home. Every moment I spent with my parents and siblings were just worth it before I moved and became independent.

If I want to write about my family and each of my sibling personalities, trust me you will make a seasonal movie script out of it, lol.

Today, I want to show gratitude not just for the whole family but for the set of parents I was privileged to have. I learnt many things from my parents but I will share only two today.

  1. RESPECT

We were consciously thought how to show respect to our elders but never to be timid. Dad made sure he supervised that all the low ranked officers in the house greet the higher ranked officers every morning.
It was a law in my house that you never insult your elder brother or sister because if you do, you will be dealt with and nobody will plead for your forgiveness. You may think that this was bad for us but I like you to know that this built in that habit of respect. I am from the southern part of Nigeria but we were practicing respect as if we were Yorubas (Yoruba is a tribe in the western part of Nigeria that are known for the special value for respect)

  1. VALUE FOR EDUCATION

i was born in a community that paid little or no attention to education but this was very different from what my parents believed. My dad was a diehard lover of books and anything that would improve someone's intelligence.

He wouldn't mind staying hungry but made sure that our school fees were paid on time. He would encourage you to study, promise you everything on earth, just to get you motivated to study and become the best.

I am grateful to God for the kind of parenting I had that has made me a point of reference today.

Everyday is gratitude day. @geekis

What is Gratitudeday?

Gratitudeday is all about being thankful for the things that are happening in your life. A lot of us go through life taking things for granted. The goal is to challenge you to make a blog post about something you are grateful for. It could be big or small. It doesn't matter. Little things matter. I'll be doing this for 62 days (62 is not a random number). It's not an endurance game, you can join in anytime you want and opt out anytime you want.
