I would make a bet that majority of people reading this post are doing so on their android device. There are now more than two billion monthly active android devices in use around the world.
Let's rewind about six years ago, this was not so. The only major mobile operating system was the IOS. Don't get me wrong apple devices are great but we all know they have one major flaw. They are very expensive and they don't have much option to choose from (making two). The smartphone has invaded our lives even in third world countries no one is left out and this is because of android. In about five years android has become to the mobile world what windows was to the pc world. Android has been the best-selling OS worldwide on smartphones since 2011
What has android done for us?
It has given us choices.
We are no longer bound to choosing the iPhone because of lack of choice. We can now choose from a vast array of devices across the board.
it has made for easy accessibility.
the masses can have access to smartphones at a cheap price.
it has made access to the internet very easy
Thus helping us stay connected thereby making the world a global village and bringing humanity closer together.
Android has not lagged behind
in providing updates and security patches for it's OS. It has provided it's users with a suite of apps for maximum pleasure and productivity
Android has gone mainstream
and has successfully integrated into other appliances like fridges, cars as in android auto, smartwatches and fitness trackers as in android wear etc. Creating an ecosystem called the internet of things which takes connectivity to whole new level and addresses the task to make life much more easy and even more convenient for us all.
