The overgrown grave.

I love to walk around graveyards taking photographs, the older the graves I find the better. There is a name for people like me and that is a taphophile.
This grave dates from 1864 and is in a churchyard in a small village a few miles from my home. The stone is mostly covered by moss and ivy but part of the inscription is still readable.

What an awesome picture you have there. These kind of graves always put me in full dreamer mode. Creating images in my mind of who this person might have been and the adventures back in the day. Have fun out there and good luck with your future posts!

I was lucky with the weather, the bright sunshine gave some great shadows to work with.

I thought I was the only person that liked graveyards. I found much of my old family on ancestry.com and visited some of their graves!!

I often stop when driving around if I see an old village church to check out the graveyard.

Gothic stuff. Upvoted!

Jeepers creepers... by the way what is the holy grail find for taphophiles? And have you stumbled upon it personally yet?

For me it's finding the really old graves or ones with historical importance. In this graveyard is a monument to people who fell in the Battle of Waterloo who came from that village.

Great photography skills! Upvoted!

Love it. This is the type of photography style I tend to keep to as well.

I find it so sad walking past graves like this. It makes me want to put a flower down, but I definitely don't make a habit of going to graveyards.
