Whale Call! Support The Comment Winners Of The Great Steem Giveaway - 50 Steem Won So Far!!!

I am trying to encourage good commenting and I need your support. As you may or may not know I am running the The Great Steem Giveaway, whereby I am giving away 2 and 5 Steem prizes to Steemians whom have enhanced my posts and articles, by adding valuable comments and relative links.

I believe this is a positive way to combat meaningless spam comments on all of our posts. I am very happy to give away a small portion of my Steem to help fight the fight, so to speak.

Vote Support

I am not asking for Steem to be delegated to me, I am not asking for any funds whatsoever to be parted with. All I would ask you, whale or not, to vote for these people's comments, and if you value their content, to vote for that too and follow them.

Somebody who has taken the time to read and respond to a post is a valuable commodity, and I believe that through positive reinforcement, we should encourage more and more Steemians like this to our platform.

By rewarding good thoughtful content, and/or links to relevant articles that enhance the original post, we are encouraging more of this behaviour, whilst at the same time showing the spammers, that the way to be rewarded, is to engage.

Whale Watch

I would respectfully ask that anyone who is able to give a five dollar vote or more, if you could vote up some of the winning comments.

Please join me in encouraging more meaningful and worthwhile commenting. This works on so many levels, not only does it encourage good people to keep going. Search engine algorithms value relevantly linked, and heavily commented content. Which of course is great for the platform and the wider Steemit community as a whole.

Winners So Far

So I'll leave it at that for the moment, I hope this hasn't come across as a begging letter. As all I am asking is the odd click of a button to encourage quality commenters and content makers to carry on.

For now, please take the time to check out some of the Steemians who have won Steem by leaving great comments and links (some before the Start Of The Great Steem Giveaway).

Well done to the winners so far, remember there is no limit to how many times you can win, and there are other winners whom haven't been notified yet. You shall receive your Steem as soon as my latest powerdown cashes in.

Hopefully some of you with influence agree with the integrity of what I'm trying to do, and support the effort.

Even if you don't, I appreciate you taking the time to read, and hope that through this effort, you find more great Steemians to follow and support.

My upvote is worth astonishing $0.01 but I'll definitely try to connect with the other contest winners as I'm always up for a meaningful discussion. Thank you once again for doing all this, cheers! : )

Hello @ cryptogee Please how can I redeem this 2steem. Thanks for the recognition. Keep on the good work!
Regards @apiprincz

No problem! I haven't sent the Steem yet, I'm waiting for my powerdown to come through, so will be sending in the next few days.

Thanks!

Oh, forgive my impatience and thanks for the upvote. Love you!

I like this contest and what's being promoting. I've noticed quite an influx of spammy comments on most posts. In most cases it's clear they did not ready or comprehend the post.

For me, writing doesn't come easily so when I post I put a lot of time and effort into it. I love reading comments that ask questions and expand on the subject. This to me makes Steemit is so meaningful. Exchanging ideas and thoughts. When someone takes the time to engage on a post I always reward them with an upvote.

By doing this I think it will help reduce the spam comments. Cheers!

Yes, just by voting good comments we are all adding to the effort. Some people just don't get it though, look at the comment by @mawardy, which will soon be on the bottom of this post. I offer free Steem for good comments, and then he puts that. Which will just cause me to mute him, and he shall never be able to win one of my contests again, because I won't be able to see him!

Cg

This is best way to try to limit this behavior. Cheers!

That's one great idea, spam and random comments seem to be wrife especially if you have a popular post. If people just thought before randomly posting either 'pick me, pick me' style comments they would realise meaningful comments encourage engagement and that inturn gains you a more engaging audience.

Granted some of the comments are humerous, yet still as damaging, bravo on this idea.

I wouldn't mind the humourous ones so much if I ever got them! Hopefully we'll slowly be able to spread a vibe of good commenting. As long as the good outnumbers the spam, I think we'll be OK.

Cg

The humerous aren't meant to be, it tends to be English words put together in a random order, then a response that takes a MENSA genius to decipher, e.g. What did you like about the V90? | a fine mobile auto taking place in the steem itt , I want car etc
It's a crazy world.

I've had some truly cryptic ones, but they never answer my 'you what?' replies :-)

Cg

Funny that🤣, if I get into my local dialect they've no hope.

Reet grand, aye lig dahn when ya get yem - that's good, yes lie down when you get home 🏡

Here we see a dolphin trying to communicate with mutiple whales. Despite their difference in size, both are mammals and able to call on one another. Today, we have the opportunity to observe closely the mating whale call, one of the most sacred rituals in the sea of Steemit.

Mastering this call would bring untold bounties, enough to feed many pods of dolphin or a family of 4, depends on current Steem price.

As the dolphin desperately calls out for help, the sea remains silent. Its voice travel deep into trending, but to no avail. The whales are on a hunting trip and will not return any time soon. Is its effort wasted? Swimming inside dangerous water, a lone dolphin is trying to keep the trash at bay. But one against many, can it win or will it will be swallowed by the merciless spam?

It sends out calls again, deeper than the last. Eyes still linger with hope, it wades on. What will become of our dolphin as fatigue slowly sets in? Should it leave and fight another day?

When we continue on Ocean Creatures: Steem blockchain.

Ha! Beautiful! :-)

Tell me you were doing Attenborough's voice as you wrote that :-D

Cg

You got me, and also in Nelson Mandela's voice.

Big lolz! :-D

Cg

I guess it's a way to erase and eradicate the nice post guys and also foster a better and more valuable contribution to the blockchain

I don't think we'll ever eradicate them, however we can drown them out with worthwhile commenting and linking. :-)

Cg

Yes that certainly, well if we can't stop them, let's drown them

great to see some initiatives. Again a dolphin really making the difference. In any case I’m following you. Didn’t know you existed until you curated my blog. This is what keeps me interested in the platform.

Yes, connections, connections, and yet more connections! The more we comment, post and curate, the more we can grow our networks, this is where the strength lies in Steemit :-)

Cg

Nice idea you made that good comment be made so it could be upvoted by whales and even content be upvoted. Thanks for this idea, some times we minnows do our best to create nice content but later get discouraged by the little payout we get from it. Thanks ones more for this innovation

That's a great idea to give out the steem in the denominations that you do. How many more times will you be doing this contest?

I like the idea of this contest, spam problem is quite annoying to me, I really love your creativity. Thanks very much!

i love this contest , it will encourage people to read posts and leave on it worthy comments, and add value to peoples work ,, keep it up man

Great rewards, thank you for the encouragement nice work

I'm a newbie here and I so much admire the great work of this guys,I look up to them which I believe I'll get there some day, congratulations to you guys! And a very big thank you to @cryptogee for this encouragement.

Very nice post 😊👍👍👍

@cryptogee
The idea of this contest is a welcome idea. You defined the objective of it which to make steemians drop meaningful comments on walls and avoid spamming.

And also since this platform is on writing and passing vital informtion to members, it creates room for learning.. A steemian once wrote "steemit is education and education is steemit"

You invariably encourage educating of steemians on how to drop meaningful note which on the long run not only benefit them but the entire community.

This is an era of sharing and decentralised system and thats what steemit and steemians stand for and you are really an ambassador of this movement.

I say thumbs up cause this is great.

excellent post @cryptogee
thanks for Beautifull explained😍

You mean "Great Post, Follow Me Please" isn't what you want to see all day. More and more when I read comments I'm noticing that the bots are pulling content and using it to make it look like someone read the post and commented. This is interesting to see.

As someone who enjoys reading other people's posts and then making thoughtful comments this is great! Wish others would take the time to upvote and interact with those that take the time to comment on their posts.

While spam comments are an issue so is authors just taking from the system and not community building. Tossing up a post and letting everyone upvote and make tons of comments with no replies or upvotes in return is not only selfish, but also setting a bad example IMO.

Over time I'm sure the cream rises to the top, but in the mean time the spam and greed are issues that the community needs to address in positive ways. Your approach to reward quality comments is a great start!

Sungguh luar biasa pemikiran yang anda punya . Saya sungguh mendukung konten ini.

Really great concept @cryptogee and I don't see it as begging because you have touched on something very important to our community. Everyone needs encouragement. And, it is important for those with power to share it or there will be no growth on the platform to support them in the future.

My votes are worth anywhere from 8 cents to 20 cents but with any luck, they will be worth more as I continue to grow with the platform.

Thanks @cryptogee for the mention but it won't be possible without your kind gesture. ✌

@cryptogee
Your words inspires me.
"Somebody who has taken the time to read and respond to a post is a valuable commodity"
I totally buy into your idea and anticipate the great value it will add to this community.

Wow, that’s incredibly kind, and I’m more than just a little flattered.

It’s the “Kojave Recognition,” thing even more than the monetary amount, although I guess on Steemit those are one and the same (which is pretty much a major ancillary goal of the platform I think).

Or, if the Kojave reference is way too overly nerdy, then let me rephrase it in a less nerdy way, which, after you see the less nerdy version, you’ll be amazed by actually just how nerdy the Kojave reference:

The phrase I’m looking for, I believe, is that all I ever want is for “Senpai to Notice Me.”

Basically, just, ya know...thanks...it really means a lot!

Woow 🙀🙀Amazing .@cryptogee

If you could be bothered to read, you'd know how ironically stupid that comment is.

Cg

yes I know do not like it, but remember something kindness done meaningless, if not sincere, I see you want to be praised, that you are a generous person. very many small races with great value, your konters help others but on the other hand drop others' self esteem, i love to get bitter comment. karana it to make us grow forward. I do not expect my comments to be rewarded but that is just to say hello.

Congratulations to all the great winners! This is a wonderful contest and I thank you very much @cryptogee for this great work trying to encourage good commenting, thank you a lot.

Steemit has been a member for a week. I originally wrote my blog posts. I made the comments in the form of presenting the details and the details. But I was not noticed because of the copy content. The same copy prevention system should be introduced in shared scripts. Otherwise the blog will soon turn into garbage.

nice initiative @cryptogee great blog complete with good contents and excellent comments. newbies mostly get attention by writing good comments. so it's really a nice idea to promote those newbies and minnows who want to do honest job. First by reading post and than write a good comments. In this way we will make this community free from spam type of comments. Comments is not a collection of words only. Actually we are exchanging our idea, and giving community a new thought by comments. You know one and one make eleven. so all the best:)

What a wonderful idea to invite the 'big guys' in on this! Thank you so much for seeing my comments as 'contest worthy'; I am truly humbled by this! I'm with you...it's always better to be proactive and support those who are contributing in a worthwhile manner, in the hopes of raising the bar for those who are not! I've been reading for hours a night on steemit and I can see the whole spam thing is becoming more and more of an irritant and I've seen multiple 'threads' trying to deal with it. I guess there isn't a way for just "one full frontal attack', is there? What I'm saying is that I see you @cryptogee with this contest and then calling on the whales to join in for support, I see @mike314-0005 in his post trying to define plagiarism and figure out how to deal with spam,
asking for help from the community,
(https://steemit.com/steemit/@mike314-0005/fighting-spam-and-low-quality-content-together-part-1-what-do-you-think-is-spam#@lynncoyle1), and many others which I'm afraid I've lost track of! Is there a way to create one collective force against this? Like I've told you before, I've only been on steemit less than a month so this is probably something that has been tackled before and I'm just noticing it for the first time. Overall though, I really want to reiterate my thanks to you @cryptogee for acknowledging that I may have something to say that is worth repeating !! :) Cheers!

Thanks, I myself have been amazed by so many different, self-policing initiatives since I joined, so I'm just trying to do my wee bit :-)

Cg

Some steemians don't believe in commenting on people's posts, what they believe in is just writing their own post forgetting g that commenting on people's posts will help one to gain more popularity. I don't want to take this as a contest, I would prefer to call it a means of encouraging steemians to work hard on reading posts and making good comments thereby contributing to the original post an also helping the author to learn more by opening his eye to some other relevant things he or she might have missed during the process of compiling the article. I really appreciate you @cryptogee for this good work you are doing. keep it up boss

It's embarrassing to say that my vote is only 0.01 worth but I'll give my whole power to support you! And thanks for the giveaway :D

keep up the good work @cryptogee! thanks a lot for been supportive to those that follow your post. I will be following all your post now.
