The false prophets: In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories, 2 Peter 2:3

Many times religions forget the wisdom of God, that is, its deepest essence and its connection with the ethical laws of the universe, and are transformed into a set of rites and customs that only impose poverty and oppression. And this occurs because the search for the apparent goods becomes more important than the search for the spiritual goods such as mercy (compassion, kindness, gentleness) and piety (constancy, firmness, devotion).
This is why the prophet Hosea, seeing the decline of the kingdoms of Judah and Israel in the Old Testament, taught with determination: "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings" Hosea 6:6.
The apostle Peter also warned us of this problem in his second epistle, the false teachers who bring with them false doctrines (heresies) seek to impose the fruits of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21), and this is what should be avoided in the community of believers of our Lord Jesus; the Kingdom of God is above all the path of rectitude (Matthew 7:12) as Jesus taught it. When a society falls into corruption it is because its leaders did it first, leaders with their example can impose both good and bad in the simple and common people.
This is how Peter spoke to us about false prophets and teachers: "But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. Many will follow their depraved conduct and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with fabricated stories. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping" 2 Peter 2:1-3.
