Phaethon was the child of Helios, the sun-god. One could see the gleam of the sun's rays in his splendid yellow hair, and feel its glow in the blaze of his eyes. He was so loaded with life and energy that it was a joy to watch him. When he was playing with boys in the town, when they threw stones, it was Phaethon who could throw the most long distance, when they ran races, Phaethon always achieved the objective first, and it was the same in all their different sports.

Despite the fact that these boys couldn't beat Phaethon in their games, they could state discourteous things to him, and one day, they all met him with a chorus of insults and scoffing words. In addition to other things, they said that he was not the child of Helios, and this hurt Phaethon in particular, for he had always thought it a brilliant thing to feel that the god of the immense sparkling sun was his dad.

The following morning, as he lay under a tree, looking unfalteringly at the sun, he figured he could see the sun-god, Helios, driving his golden chariot over the sky. "What a fine thing it would be," he said to himself, "on the off chance that I could drive that awe inspiring chariot. At that point the boys would trust that I am truly the child of the sun-god."

The idea had no sooner entered his head than he set out to go to the nation where the sun rises. It was a long trip, however finally he saw the golden palace of the sun-god, and afterward, as he came closer, he saw Helios himself, sitting on a throne with a crown on his head, while the hours and the days remained around him prepared to do his bidding.

The crown that Helios wore was the most magnificent crown that was ever observed, it was set thick with valuable stones of the most stunning kind, these stones were bright to the point that they cast rays of light all around, and whoever took a gander at them long was certain to be practically blinded. Indeed, even Phaethon's eyes couldn't long bear the brilliance of the crown, so he stood well once again from it and disclosed to Helios his identity and what the boys had said.

At that point he inquired as to whether there were not some way by which his mates could be made to trust that he was truly the child of the Sun. Helios removed his crown, with the goal that Phaethon could come closer, and afterward he promised to concede any desire that the boy should make. This was an awesome support, and Phaethon would not have gotten it in the event that he had not been a genuine child of the Sun.

Phaethon clapped his hands in triumph, for he suspected that now he may have his desire. The hours were at that point drawing out the golden chariot of the Sun, and it appeared to be practically as splendid as the crown of Helios. Phaethon inquired as to whether he won't not drive this chariot for one day. Helios was agitated at hearing such a desire as this, yet he had promised, and the gods couldn't break their promises, in like manner, when the hours drew out the horses, and made everything prepared, he was obliged to give Phaethon a chance to steer.

The horses of the Sun were intense animals, as searing in their temper as any animal that at any point lived, even in those days of fire-breathing bulls and dragons. They were by all accounts made of fire inside, and they raised and dove and champed their bits in a way that would have altogether terrified generally boys. However, Phaethon, recalling that he was a child of the Sun, readily had his spot in the chariot.

The four horses began off at a dash, and Phaethon was light to the point that the chariot was hurled forward and backward as though it had been unfilled. The horses were alarmed on the double. They cleared out the correct way round the world, and started to run fiercely, swerving first one way and afterward another. Phaethon saw now, when it was past the point of no return, that he was excessively young, making it impossible to drive such horses.

They developed increasingly energized, and starts of fire started to fly from their nostrils. The chariot, as well, as it was brought faster and faster through space, started to become brighter and more sizzling. As the horses and chariot approached the earth, mountain tops took fire and started to smoke.

They came nearer yet, rivers were gone away, and numerous, numerous miles of forest-land and green glades were burned and wound up plainly like a forsake. In some nations, as well, the warmth was great to the point that the people were swung to a dark color. It looked as though the entire world may be consumed. At this point Phaethon was scared, undoubtedly, for his own hair was on fire. Yet, he didn't realize what to do.

Jupiter, looking down from Mount Olympus, saw that the world was in awesome threat. At that point all of a sudden came a horrible clap of thunder, and Phaethon tumbled starting from the chariot, straight down, similar to a falling star, into the wide river Eridanus. Thus poor Phaethon, however a genuine child of the Sun, bombed in endeavoring to drive his dad's red hot chariot.

Maybe he could never have endeavored so brave a deed, had it not been for the unkind insults of his playfellows. There are some things which even the children of the Sun can't do. His sisters, the Heliades, sobbed for him on the banks of the Eridanus, till finally they were changed into larch trees, and their tears, proceeding to fall into the water from the branches of the trees, progressed toward becoming drops of clear golden.

This story is worth sharing with our kids that proving something that will only destroy things or even relationship is not worthy at all.
