The Spirit of the Day - 15 August - Day of the Dormition of Theotokos

Day of the Dormition of Theotokos.

Christian Orthodox don't celebrate the Assumption but the Dormition of the blessed virgin Mary. In the Byzantine calendar, the feast was celebrated as the Dormition. 15 August was the day of the celebration, and later the western Church changed the term Dormition choosing the terms Assumption and Coronation of the virgin. Meaning, of course, is not in the words, in the terms we use to define allegory. The Mother of God is the strongest symbol of unity in a society. The Mother of God is the mother of us all, we are the body and blood of the universe born of Our Lady. This universe is made up of our spiritual world, and this spiritual world is the birth of the Mother of God. Today, let us, first of all, consider the spiritual heritage that Our Lady leaves to us. And, there is no need to be a fanatic (ie practically stupid) believer or religious. Just don't forget that every mother on this planet is a Theotokos and every newborn is a little God in progress.

So try not to constantly crucify your fellow men!

(This is the main message of the day)
