The Democrat candidate Danny O'Conner lost because he did not excite the democratic base enough to go vote for him. In one of his political ads, O'Conner said he wanted to work with Republicans to find common ground and past an infrastructure bill. He does not support medicare for all and says he will defend access to healthcare and expand healthcare coverage. O'Conner was just not a good candidate and that is why he lost.

I hate the term spoiler vote. More candidates the better, also an educated electorate would be beneficial
