I subscribe to 5 online scientific journal type magazines. They cover Machines, Hi-tech communication, Micro-biology, Chemistry and the Cosmos. I get e-mails from them on stuff they consider special. I consider this one special too.
French scientists are bringing back too life a virus frozen 45,000 years ago in the permafrost. They're digging these viruses up or retrieving them from excavations and here's the justification. We need to understand their lethality or not because rapid climate change is going to melt the permafrost and humanity will be confronted with them.
This is excellent fodder in which to sew fear in the pursuit of the green agenda. And maybe ancient viruses are a threat. We weren't around when the last ice age began but only there when it ended. So we've been exposed to stuff from about 12-18,000 years ago. Before that? Maybe that's what killed the Neanderthals. A deadly virus that spared us.
