The Steemit Greeters Guild are a group of Steemians dedicated to helping those new to Steemit to Learn, Earn, and Grow

As well as hunting out newbies and giving them the helping hand they need,

we will also be on the lookout for other compassionate Steemians to join our guild for the benefit of all, and to keep the Steemit platform relevant in today’s social media heavy World

We will have different tiers set up to reward those users who join the guild and want to help others and while we are just in the beginning phase, those rewards will grow over time and we will be a very worthwhile guild to become a part of

So if you know of anyone new to the platform who needs some help or encouragement then please leave a comment below with their name and we will be there to provide them with support

So stay tuned Steemians as more information will be coming soon and expect to see a lot of us in the coming months and years

So keep those engines running and Steem on!

Oh yea, I have upvoted you and followed you. Many blessings from @introbot & @bycoleman

Hi guys! I spoke with @davemccoy and he told me about the beginning of @greetersguild! This is a really good idea; I'm always coming across new folks who need a helping hand, and I tell them what I can and send them to @newbieresteemday (of which I'm a member), or just help them with whatever they're in need of.

I have a couple right now I'm working with, but I'm happy to put their names here for you to jump in as well. I will come back with them though...I want to let them know first that I'm doing it.

Great new initiative :)

You are awesome @lynncoyle1 ... I love to see you work :D

Thank buddy...I do what I can, where I can and keep my eye out "scouting" for whatever or whoever I can find!
And thanks Dave, you're a bit of a marvel yourself to watch :)

Thanks for your support @lynncoyle1 send them our way. The more support they get the better. We will certainly be sending people to newbieresteemday too. That’s how this all started really. Cheers

My pleasure, and don't worry, as my dad says, "it'll all come out in the wash eventually", meaning no one is keeping score and everyone is simply doing their part to help out!

Cheers!

GREAT page to have out there for new members that are joining. Looking forward to seeing your success in helping the members.

Thanks @goldendawne I’m sure we will be directing new people your way sometime soon

lol- Yeah.. I kind of figured that. I may have to request some extra caffeine and hazelnut coffee from you guys!

Lol! Maybe a couple of matchsticks to keep your eyelids open too

I just dropped by to congratulate you on taking this initiative. There can never be too much help for newbies.
I consider myself lucky that I got in in november 2017 and was able to build my account a bit before the big in-stream started.

I’m not at the top of my game right now, (I’m recovering from surgery) which means I barely manage to get my posts out and to reply to my comments, but this is something I’ll keep in mind, and come back to when I’m full power again.

omgosh... talk about someone never sleeping... :) ...

I love to see you here so early! And you are so awesome when you are "not on top of your game".... Its ard to even conceive what you will be like when you are "on top of your game"! :)

Lol, we’ll just have to wait and see. I might take over your crown as the king of comments :0)

Since I’m only allowed to lie down and walk, I’ve got nothing else to do at the moment. Once the pain killers kick in, I’m able to spend all my time on here

Thanks very much @simplymike. I totally agree. We were all new once and need all the help we can get when we are.

I can't wait to see this take off :) Glad to be on board!

Lucky, I agree! You guys are going to rock it!

Here is a submission @greetersguild, this gal from The Philippines is a rock star waiting to happen on steemit! Here is her introduceyourself post, enjoy, upvote & resteem! WELCOME LAI

I agree, excellent post and introduction but seems she is going to do well without too much help. Although the Phillipines have excellent support groups in place to help their new members. But as a point I made about intro bots, she had two on her intro post...ridiculous. @introbot and @steemladder.

hey @scrapsmith! Welcome to you :) .... I take it you want us to greet @izaid (which I will personally do). We are thankful for these types of referrals and if you could gives us some info it would also be great! And by info it could be something simple like:

Hey everyone, I met this cool guy named @scrapsmith that needs help with understanding how bandwidth works. Please give him some help if you can!

If you do something like that, you will probably have many people rush to help him! That's how this works, lots of awesome people looking to give a helping hand!

Congratulations! This post has been resteemed as part of #newbieresteemday. The resteem initiative was started to spread encouragement, motivation and helpful tips to newbies that create quality content. To learn more about the initiative please click here.

awesome @magicalmoonlight! I love it... If you are on discord, then connect to me via dm davemccoy#2479... I want you to let me know (if you don't mind) when you post things like your Magical Mondays... I want to help your post be seen!

Great job!

Thank you so much! I did just join discord last night but I haven't had the chance to play around with it yet. @terminallyill is going to help get started on discord today so I will be in touch on discord this evening. Thank you :)

and his intro post: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@silentdiscourse/whaddup-steemies-introduction-post-do-i-know-de-wae

where I gave him a quick run down of @newbieresteemday and @greetersguild just now!

I'm hoping to get the second guy to you soon :)

Once again, great work guys! Love it...people helping people..that's my thing :)

What an excellent idea @lynncoyle1, excellent work!

Thank you @cryptkeeper17!

He managed three bots on his post, but it's your kind of engagement Id love to see more of. Thank you for being an example to us all.

Thank you so much for that @nathen007... it was my pleasure :) Maybe with more posts such as this, more and more may start doing the same!

Another group to help newbies. Yippee. People just need to be read. This is the only problem here. How are you going to achieve that please?

Thanks @nathen007 perhaps you would like to be one of our greeter volunteers. The role of one of our greeters is to hunt down newbies who require help in their first few months, follow them and write a quality post about them. Use the tags greetersguild and newbieresteemday and in the post that you do about them welcome them, offer to help them and suggest they also use the tags greetersguild and newbieresteemday. You would basically be writing a post to promote them. I have seen first hand how this gives people a big boost in confidence and can also stop them from giving up. It will also give them more exposure so more upvotes and followers. We will also be putting together a library of helpful information but that will take time to put together. Basically though, a greeter volunteer is there to also offer help and advice. It will make them feel good and will also make you feel good. Our greeter volunteers will also get rewarded for doing this but more on that later as we are still in the process of setting this up. There will be tiers for our greeter volunteers so basically the more active you are in promoting and helping newbies, the more you will be rewarded. So if you want to be a greeter volunteer just let me know (so I can add you to the list) and make a start hunting for newbies

No thanks, i already do a #fridayfollow and chat to lots of new users. I just think a new set of newbies tags is getting confusing. There are almost more newbie help posts and communities than anything else. As I said, with all the best intentions in the world, all this community needs is to have people read things instead of just wanting to be read. Is this also going to mean yet another bot spamming introduceyourself posts ? Tiers for greeter volunteers ? like an mlm scheme ? Seriously, read a newbies post and give them constructive advice. Thats it...why make things so complex ?

Have you ever heard the saying, It takes a village to raise a child ? With so many people joining Steemit now, it gets very discouraging when you have so much competition. The newbies are like the child, it is going to take more than a few people to 'read a newbies post and give them constructive advice'. Let's be honest, majority of people don't go out of their way to read a newbies post even though that post may have better content than the person with a rep of 65 making decent money on post that are low quality. One newbie can make a difference in the long run on Steemit and i'm sure that newbie means something to their family. So by helping them, it helps multiple people.

I am very happy to hear that you go out of your way to help newbies. You are exactly the type of person that Steemit and newbies need. I am a little confused as to where people would find confusion in multiple newbie tags. We have the freedom here on Steemit to browse whatever tag we want. So if a person didn't want to see newbie tags, they could simply not click them. Newbie tags are wonderful for newbies. It gives them a tag/tags that they know could potentially really help them get seen. Unlike the other popular tags where you are competing with users who have a high reputation and a ton of followers.

As I said, with all the best intentions in the world, all this community needs is to have people read things instead of just wanting to be read.

I 100% agree with you on that statement. By helping newbies, we are reminding people to take the time to read great content and we are also recommending content that absolutely deserves to be seen over some of the stuff that travels through Steemit. I would much rather see a group of people come together and start a tag or page for newbies rather than people start even more bot pages for people to just abuse.

awesome reply @magicalmoonlight! If you have not joined the @greetersguild yet, you should! You get it! :)

Thank you, I really appreciate it. I have joined, my @greetersguild post just went live! :) If you have the chance to check it out, I would really appreciate your time.

https://steemit.com/greetersguild/@magicalmoonlight/saying-hello-to-a-way-to-grow

Excellent reply, thank you....and no I hadn't heard the saying

It takes a village to raise a child

You said that
“all this community needs is to have people read things instead of just wanting to be read. “

The problem is that newbies especially don’t get there posts read, that’s why so many newbies quit in their first few weeks or months. They put a whole lot of time and effort in to their post to only make 1or 2 cents.
And that’s why there is such a big demand for services that help newbies-because that’s what newbies want. If they didn’t want it then all the newbie guilds wouldn’t be so successful

Good stuff @marrkkennard. That would be true above if the amount of accounts on here weren't growing at such a frantic pace. 89% of accounts did not post more than 30 posts in 2017. Pretty much a 90% mortality rate considering they are producing less than an average of 1 post per week. You guys will also pick out the spam and engage with the real people on here. I am pumped for you guys this is a great project hopefully you can make it the next elite newbie program, best of luck!

awesome info @cryptkeeper17111

@markkennard excellent!

No there will be no Mlm scheme here. Personally I think people should be rewarded for putting a lot of effort into something, don’t you?

Rewards aren't just financial, its extremely rewarding to know that you have a voice that can be heard, and people listen to what you have to say, that people care enough to want to see the picture you shared, the story you wrote or the tutorial you gave. Of course, this opinion gets skewed slightly by demographics and peoples personal circumstances.
Personal meet and greets where a real human sends you a welcome message and a little advice is much more personal than a bot just dropping a generic message and link to a few articles on your intro post.
The terrible retention rate here is down to people not taking the time to read, comment and engage, many of the really big players here are too full of their own self-importance to bother even responding to their own commenters. THIS is what needs addressing in my opinion.
See the bot post about newbie resteemitday...thats likely to be counter productive...if people think no one gives a damn to bother reading and that a bot comes along to resteem and upvote, people are going to just start posting any old crap cos they think 'why should I bother?' I'll just game it and make a few quid from bots like this.
We need the bots OFF this platform completely and make it personal and organic.
Go take a look at this young lady @purepinay. Extremely popular, makes a few quid but look at her engagement, look at the number of comments she replies to. It's this engagement that keeps her followers here and still plugging away trying to build their own presence. Its inspiration and education (of the big players and those who've been here a while) we need to focus our attention on I believe. Thats all I'm saying. As usual, we're all trying to get from point a to point b but disagreeing on routes ;-)
Good luck with your efforts, I really appreciate your destination despite not necessarily agreeing with the direction you're attempting to get there.

I agree with a lot of what you say and that’s why we started @greetersguild. To give newbies the personal touch and work with them one on one to help them grow.

I know who you are talking about and I respect the heck out of what she does on here. Everything is very savvy and organic. I would not be going out on too far a limb to say 80% or more of her interaction is with newbies, just from what I have seen since joining a few months ago. It's no accident this is geared very similar to what she does just about every day on here. Success stories like that are what will get this place growing like wildfire. The thing is we don't know who that person is in each case right away who will have vertical growth their first year, so we all on Steemit need to make an effort like this one here and like yours especially on #fridayfollow that I am pleased to hear about. Thanks @nathen007, best of luck to you, ongoing success sir!

@nathen007 , you know what is wrong with this platform as does anybody who has been engaged in it on a personal level. You sound like you have a pretty good grasp on everything in general, which is why you should consider working with us to change things in the Steemit community. We are more than a group just popping by to say hello. We are promoting exponential growth, both personally and professionally on Steemit. We are giving smaller users a voice outside of #introduceyourself. We are standing up to go to bat for the minnows and nebies, to pave a better path for everyone new to this platform. We are ensuring that people have a fair chance of growing and networking before they throw away the towel. We are building a standard for community interaction that is based on sheer compassion and giving. There is much more than just saying hello and working for rewards. Take what I'm saying as fact. Nobody here is here for rewards, in fact, most of us including myself will be personally ensuring the growth of the guild by coming out of my own pocket and investing. Why? Because I see the good in this and I see what this will do for the future of this platform. I believe in it, as should every person using Steemit.

I would like to invite you to partake in one of the many things we have to offer. If you see things wrong with the platform that need to be addressed and changed, then get on board and work with other like minded people to make a change. Build this initiative so that our voices can be heard, so that the voices of those less fortunate than us can be heard. Step up and help your fellow man get on his or her feet and build confidence. Come together with other like minded individuals, for the betterment of the platform as a whole. If you want to see things change on the platform, then change them. Stand up for them. Do something different. You are invited to talk about it with me on Discord if you'd like some information, maybe I could provide insight into this that you do not have, that will change your mind.

The Steemit Greeters Guild is much more than a few folks stopping by to say hello. We are a group of like minded individuals who are here to change the future of the platform. We are here to set the standard in community interaction and education of new members. We are here to leave a lasting positive impression that can potentially change the way things are done on a large scale. We offer more than just a one way mind set, we offer growth to members of all sizes and walks of life. We provide insight, knowledge, wisdom and more importantly, unconditional support. We are going to make a tremendous difference in the Steemit world, which will ultimately carry on beyond this platform, changing lives for the better in the real world. We need support from everyone, yourself included @nathen007, which is why I am personally asking you to at least give me your time to hear me out. You may find this to be something you want in on. Don't judge a book by it's cover, there is more to us than meets the eye my friend. Come join in on changing this platform.

I do @greetersguild! Excellent reply!

that's good... Invite them to join! That way they will see for themselves what a great bunch of people you are ;)

What a great group idea. I'm sure you'll be appreciated by many!

Thanks @mamajeani perhaps you would like to be one of our greeter volunteers. I have seen first hand how this gives people a big boost in confidence and can also stop them from giving up. It will make them feel good and will also make you feel good. Our greeter volunteers will also get rewarded for doing this but more on that later. So if you want to be a greeter volunteer just let me know and start hunting for newbies

welcome to steemit and glad to have you onboard. This is a greeting to the greeters and we look forward to working closely with you!

Congratulations you have been upvoted and resteemed as part of #newbieresteemday's top 10 posts for the day! ...

We invite you to use our tag to connect with more of our members. To learn more: Come Join Us!!! (Newbie Resteem Initiative)

Looking forward to it

hi I am @khusairi , @cryptkeeper17 told me to tell you all hi so hello greetersguild and fellow newbies!

Here's another one for you : @simon62

He has been involved with me and @beeyou for sure that I know of over at @newbieresteemday, but he could use all the help we can collectively give him. He's working off of his phone, and in his words, technically challenged. He's still trying to figure out his bank app. NOT making fun here, just stressing the need.

I told him that you guys would reach out to him because I didn't want to dump any more new information on his lap today!

Thanks again for what you're doing ;)

Thanks Lynn I’ll add them to the list

I'm so glad! Thank you for all you're doing for newbies and steemit as a whole!!

This is another great idea.thanks for sharing !!!

Thanks @reginecruz maybe you would like to become a greeter. Some days when you don’t know what to post about, you could find a newbie and do a post on them. Just look at one of the other posts I’ve done and follow that format and remember to use the tags greetersguild and newbieresteemday. So would you like to become a greeter in your spare time?

Actually I can give you the name of someone to write a post about if you like

I am happy that the greeters forum has finally been formed.I was informed of this idea by @davemccoy and I was given the opportunity to testrun. But due to the fact that i was out of data for some days,i couldnt followup the whole thing. So please how does this platform works and how can I be a member?

Hi @annamighty all you have to do is agree to become a greeter and then hunt out a newbie and write a post on them. Check out the posts we did on @silentdiscourse and @anceli and just follow the same format. Basically you title your post “An up and coming Steemian-Introducing (their name)”. Then write the post as though you are addressing the Steemit community and tell them some good things about the newbie. Also follow the newbie and tell them to ask you if they need any help or advice. Welcome the newbie and provide some tips. Just get the tips from the posts I mentioned earlier. Tell them in the post to tag their posts with greetersguild and newbieresteemday and tag the post you do about them with those tags. It will get resteemed by us and you will get upvotes. We are in the process of creating a rewards system for our greeters too. So I’ll add you to our list of greeters and go out and get stuck in

Alright Thank you and I will get to it right away

Hey guys, new Steemit user here! Literally my second day :) @davemccoy referred me to the greetersguild. He found me from my introduceyourself post, located here.

I don't have much of a clue what I'm doing yet haha, or how to use this group - any tips would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Hi @satoris welcome to the greeters guild. You’ve done well to have a reputation of 32 after only a couple of days. We will get someone to write a post about you. The aim of this group is to help newbies so if you have any questions just ask. Make sure you keep an eye on your voting power. You can basically upvote 10 times a day. You don’t want to let your voting power get below 80. If you do you will have to wait for it to replenish. It’s a good idea to read the Steemit faq if you haven’t already. The faq is here. You can check your voting power and account activity here. We also are looking for volunteer greeters who’s job it is to write posts about other newbies to welcome them and provide help and advice. So if you need any help or advice just ask away

Hey @greetersguild I just did my first blog series post. I put in hours of effort, it's located here: https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@satoris/cryptotrading-series-1-how-i-made-usd20k-in-2-months-trading-cryptos-and-you-can-too and it's really not getting the traction I was hoping it would. After 30 minutes it has just 7 views. I'm wondering what I did wrong, and how I could improve/fix this? I literally spent about 4 hours or more on this post :-( I believe it's of extremely high quality, and contains tons of useful information. Yet no one is looking at it!! Help please.

Thanks!!

Great and interesting concept you guys have there! Wish you all the best in helping out the newbies! As a newbie myself, I can say that this is very much appreciated!

Hey guys, I have written a post today about #greetersguild and how I will be doing my part. You can check it out by clicking here. I've started making my way into the #introduceyourself section to greet new users. I just met @saya03 who I think with help and encouragement, could really bring a lot to Steemit. I believe I will be doing a post about her soon to give her a warm welcome.

Nice work @magicalmoonlight! I've had your page open since you commented on my entry to @terminallyill's contest..I'm making my way there eventually :) My problem is that I'm like a golden retriever puppy chasing butterflies...one catches my attention and then another...Suddenly I have 40 tabs open on my laptop haha

Thank you! Lol yea, I complelty understand what your saying. The amount of time I have compared to what I can spend getting around on Steemit is a difficult thing to learn to deal with.

I can give you the name of a newbie to write about as we are getting lots of suggestions. Just ask

Yea that sounds good. Just send me a name and I will do the post tomorrow. Thanks

@simon62 has been suggested so how about you do a post on them. Cheers

Is there a way off of Steemit to ask a question before I begin with this?

Hi @magicalmoonlight you can join our discord room here https://discord.gg/GWphey

Welcome aboard @magicalmoonlight I’m glad you want to be a greeter. Great post you did by the way. When you do a post about a newbie write it as though you are speaking to all Steemians and tell them all about the newbie you are writing about. If you look at the post we did on @anceli, follow that kind of format. Great work I’ll add you to the list of greeters
