Interesting analysis. I agree with the thrust of your ideas.
I am curious about the commercial projects concept though. It can make Gridcoins worth more by creating a market for them. However, there are many competing platforms for commercial computing which will put a ceiling on the value of Gridcoins. Still, a low ceiling is better than no value!
My only concern is whether having commercial projects will be seen by purist volunteers as a bad thing and becomes counter productive. I am ok with it, but can understand that others might not be,
