soon: less BOINC projects rewarded with Gridcoin, due to lack of SSL

User Neuralminer and customminer have been active in reaching out to BOINC projects regarding their SSL status (further info). Current result below.


What happens if those 9 BOINC projects are purged from the Gridcoin whitelist ?

  • more competition in the remaining BOINC projects (b/c people will switch)


If you are running one of those projects: 

  • feel free to comment in the listed forums threads and/or like the threads also there, so it gets larger attention (and hopefully leads to SSL implementation).


The poll "Should SSL encryption be mandatory for whitelisted BOINC projects" has more YES-votes 

  • (as of 2016 Sep 2: weight is 22:9 for YES)

    It is in all our users best interest that SSL should go mandatory for all projects on the Whitelist. What will happen if a project with popular demand sais no to SSL is not know today what I know of. But as said, there will be polls on each project before they are removed. But projects with low user base will probably be gone if they do not enable SSL.

      Erkan, I posted in POEM a while ago on this subject as I crunch their WUs and went back to see what result I got but could not find the post. I must have screwed up somewhere, happens. So, I re-posted to a couple of threads including yours. Maybe there will be some communication!? I'll keep watching.

          Just started with Leiden and LHC; hopefully they will take heed and decide to go with SSL
