Use your Graphics Card for BOINC science tasks and simultaneously earn Gridcoin! Gridcoin can be converted to Steem!

About Gridcoin:

Gridcoin (Ticker: GRC) is a decentralized, open source math-based digital asset (cryptocurrency).

Gridcoin was the first block chain protocol that delivered a working algorithm that equally rewards and cryptographically proves solving BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) hosted work, which can be virtually any kind of distributed computing process (ASIC/GPU/CPU/Sensor/Etc).

BOINC is an open-source volunteer oriented computing grid that combines the processing power of all individual users for the purposes of scientific research. It's free, and harnesses the unused clock cycles from processors and graphics cards to attempt to cure cancer/aids/ebola/malaria, map the milkyway, crack enigma codes, etc..

Proof of Work (POW) consensus mechanisms are not utilised by the Gridcoin network, making the Gridcoin cryptocurrency network far more energy efficient than any existing POW cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum).

Here is a list of BOINC project that you can contribute to with your graphics card when you are not gaming:

What can you do with Gridcoin?

  1. Play on crypto-games.net
  2. Donate your GRC earnings to various Boinc projects that need help with operating costs (Primegrid.com, YoYo@home, Boincstats.com)
  3. Convert your GRC to Steem or Steem Dollar on the Poloniex and Bittrex crypto exchanges.

It certainly looks interesting. I don't do distributed computing projects during the summer, due to the heat that they generate. But come this winter, I might have to check this out.

Nice artwork on the Gpu :D !

I joined SETI@home project in 2000, and abandoned it in 2012 for BTC mining (Greed!)
Now I see that last event on the BOINC website dated 2014.
There is new project for distributed computing - Golem Can you compare it with Gridcoin/BOINC project?
I've asked this question on Golem's blog but the answers I've got are not clear.
