Hang in there, Team Gridcoin!
As the Gridcoin project reaches its fourth year, distributed computing on the Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) network is heating up and the landscape is becoming more competitive.
This chart tracks Team Gridcoin's Recent Average Credit (RAC) earned from crunching on BOINC.
The two data sources used are the following:
https://boincstats.com/en/stats/-5/team/list/16/0/0 (Team Leaderboards)
https://boincstats.com/en/stats/-5/project/detail (BOINC Global Statistics)
Team Gridcoin has recently slipped from a peak in mid-August of having a computing power on par with the sum of the next 38 teams combined to now be on par with the sum of the next 16 teams combined. The colorized bands on the chart image track these different sums.
Measuring the total RAC of the entire BOINC network provides us another baseline to understand performance; these baselines are shown on the chart image as dashed lines. Team Gridcoin reached a peak on September 1st by earning 35.2% of the entire network's RAC, whereas today (October 9, 2018), it makes up only 28.1% of the network's total RAC.
While Team Gridcoin remains the largest presence on the BOINC leaderboards by far (with a RAC over five times as large the next contender), it remains to be seen if it this downward trend continues or if it is simply a seasonal fluctuation.
