I think there is a huge difference between cutting off their community and cutting off "random" anonymous request to their server. Only the latter has happened. Pretty much every statistics site big and small has been or will be granted access; Gridcoin too.
The poll is fine and right to decide what are the needs on the side of the gridcoin community. But I feel a kind of hostility coming with that and comments like yours. They're just trying to follow the law in the safest way. We should respect their decision.

The way WCG implements it imo is a lot better. They give the user an option to allow anonymous access to their profile.
