Latest Thoughts on Improving Gridcoin Market Value
This is the latest installment on my thoughts on creating sustained value for Gridcoin (GRC), a cryptocurrency that is mined by participating in BOINC computing.BOINC projects use distributed computing to aid scientific research

The 'Gridcoin Finance Team" The other side of development
I will attempt to build upon these discussions and summarize community input.
- Overview
- Community Volunteers
- Current Resources
- First Steps
- Types of Skills
- Specific Suggestions
1.Overview- The main thrust of this idea is that volunteers from within, or recruited by, the Gridcoin community organize a team to organize, research, and coordinate specific goals with the intent of creating a long term rise in value of GRC. For now, I will refer to this as the “Gridcoin Market Value Team”. A sample of how such a team might be organized is presented in my last post.
2.Community Volunteers – I suggest that this “Gridcoin Market Value Team” be a community effort. I am personally not a good candidate for a leadership role; primarily because I lack focus ( I have done little research or work on this idea since my last post 10 days ago).
3.Current Resources -
a) the Steemit Gridcoin community
b) the Cryptocointalk Marketing and Advertising Forum
c) the Gridcoin subreddit
d)The Gridcoin Hangouts using Mumble (see the Steemit Gridcoin community for information regarding the next Hangout)
4.First Steps - The first steps are for volunteers to step forward and take responsibility for organizing the team. The first volunteers need not have all the skills that are necessary for the team to work in the long term, but do need to put in the energy to recruit those that do have those skills. This team should coordinate with the technical developers of Gridcoin, and should not use dishonest or inaccurate portrayals of GRC.
5.Types of Skills -
a)BTB sales
b)Emerging markets
c)Cryptpocurrency exchanges
d)Currency exchanges
e)Social media marketing
f)Business recruiting
g)Organizational ability
h)Understanding Gridcoin's history
6.Specific Suggestions for Team Goals -
a)Recruit more GRC miners, especially from folks already contributing to BOINC
b)Get GRC accepted on cryptocurrency exchanges
c)Get GRC accepted as valid currency for tuition and other expenses at those institutions using BOINC
d)Get GRC accepted as currency by textbook publishers and scientific suppliers.
e)Get GRC accepted as currency for other individually identified businesses
f)Research methods of identifying and preventing pump and dump schemes
g)Research how Bitcoin became a valued mode of exchange (this does not need to be emulated, but it should be understood)
h)Research how Litecoin, Ethereum, etc became valued modes of exchange (ditto)
i)Promote the intrinsic value of GRC as having been mined by contributing to science
j)Identify and promote other unique values of GRC as compared to other altcoins
k)Research the possibility of having GRC accepted as valid currency by taxing institutions
l)Research the feasibility of recruiting from outside the community, and determining methods of recompense if necessary
To summarize, Gridcoin has an intrinsic value to society due to it's method of mining via scientific research. However, market value does not always reflect intrinsic value ( and vice versa). For Gridcoin to become a viable method of exchange, and thus GRC mining more valuable in terms of reward to prospective miners, the demand for GRC must be increased. The Gridcoin community can increase the demand for GRC by successful sale of the concept of GRC's value. This can be achieved by setting specific goals and achieving them by community effort. The community can achieve these goals by identifying or recruiting people with the appropriate skillsets.
A lot of today's material is rehashed from the previous posts, however, I think this summary puts the idea a little more clearly, and adds some suggestions. As ever, I seek additional input regarding volunteers, resources, and improvements to the concept. I would be rather happy if someone else were to run with this idea, as I just don't have the focus to be an effective lead.
Again a great summary steve.
I also share your opinion about 'contracting' social media/ business people.
But we need those people to commit for the long term.
I also don't understand how some coins get their value, when they are not even contributing a 'new angle' to the crypto scene :)
Cheers mate !

Me either, which is why we need to interest folks that have that knowledge, or can reason out why one coin works, and another coin doesn't. There may be something in that study that can aid increase GRC value.
Thanks @cassidy1 !
