If you are a Gridcoin fan, you have surely noticed a sore lack of content on our Official Twitter. During the last month, only one tweet was made - it received 2 comments, 8 retweets and 19 likes. For a Twitter with 15.2k followers, that's rather disappointing, to put it mildly. If you ask me, the solution to this problem is right before us - more than 25 quality articles about Gridcoin were posted on Steemit during the same time! We should simply tweet about them, with a corresponding Steemit link and a short commentary. But our Twitter admins have been reluctant to do so, citing fears of 'monetization' and favoring Reddit and Medium platforms instead. I think that's a bad decision and a harmful policy which is paralyzing our Twitter and is detrimental to our marketing efforts overall, for a number of reasons:
1. Both Reddit and Medium are obsolete platforms. You can post only dull walls of text on Reddit and Medium's own "clap" function is obviously inferior compared to Steemit's decentralized rewards system. Registered Medium users can clap the same article 50 times, can it get more ridiculous than that?
2. Nearly everyone on our subreddit is with Gridcoin already. From a marketing standpoint, it makes very little sense to promote our content to people who we have already recruited.
3. Medium has a sign-up softwall, getting in the way when you open more than two articles there without signing up. Upon opening a third article, you will get an ugly popup window like this:
4. Our content on Medium is getting very little traction. There are virtually no comments and even the number of "claps" we get is often below 10, which is negligible (despite them being completely free, unlike Steemit upvotes which cost voting power). Moreover, our official Medium has got only 55 followers which is obviously disastrously low - even newbie accounts here on Steemit have more followers than that.
5. On the other hand, Steemit is very-well suited for posting crypto-related content. A lot of potential crypto-investors are hanging around here, who might be willing to invest in Gridcoin. We have a lot of high-quality articles about Gridcoin and BOINC, upvoted by many people, including both science and crypto-enthusiasts and there's a lot of interaction and resteems. Our Steemit content is always upvoted by me and, sometimes, by some other whales too. Such well-upvoted content is more likely to attract the attention of potential investors than our unnoticed Medium posts.
I say it's time to breathe some new life into our Twitter! Therefore, I will be creating a poll for that purpose, with a sole question "Do you support Steemit content on our Official Twitter"? If you supported my Marketing Initiative, I encourage you to vote 'Yes' on this new poll too. We need to promote our quality Steemit content, on Twitter and everywhere else.
To further incentivize this, if the poll passes and our Steemit content gets approved for tweeting, I will be upvoting every tweeted article with 100% of my voting power. Even more, every week I will spend 5 SBD through MinnowBooster, additionally upvoting the most interesting tweeted article about Gridcoin, BOINC and volunteer computing in general. I have prepared 100 SBD for this 'bonus program', enough for about 5 months of MinnowBooster support.
Vote now through your Gridcoin wallets to make our Twitter more relevant and in accordance with modern crypto-platforms, not Reddit!
I support your call. My marketing idea (I wrote ~ a year ago about) is promoting Gridcoin as a side-promotion to projects, or in other words - to focus on promoting BOINC projects and somewhere besides to mention gridcoin.
Just a few days ago @delta1512 published a nice article I would like to see mentioned on twitter / facebook etc.
We should re-think and re-do several things this year. Other blockchains move with speeds of jets, this one with a speed of a tortoise...
P.S. BOINC projects can be seen as kind of dapps for gridcoin blockchain.

GRC is on Bittrex, not a bad one. The problem is low volume. So instead of applying to other exchanges we should answer first why so little interest in GRC?

I'm not sure I understand the fears of 'monetization'? Whatever the case, I don't see any problems with your proposal. It sounds like a great idea to me. I'll be voting in support.

Well, I think the concern is that tweeting particular Steemit posts might make them more prominent and therefore more profitable, somehow 'monetizing' the whole Twitter+Steemit combo. I don't see that as a problem either, in fact quite the opposite - well rewarded content is usually considered more interesting by potential investors (nobody wants to invest in coins which create no traction).
And even if such 'monetization' is really a concern to someone, lack of content is obviously a far bigger concern currently.

I see. I agree with you that shouldn't be too much of a concern. We could easily hold the Twitter admins accountable to tweet posts equitably according to neutral criteria e.g. quality and relevance.
And anyway, it seems like any 'abuse' that could potentially happen would amount to such small profits that it wouldn't really matter...

Fully agree and I support your initiative @vortac.
The official twitter account should contain links to any available platform and especially Steemit.
Actually, similar platforms like whaleshares and WEKU should be included as well.

Hello @vortac. I have been reading your articles for quite some time and I'm a bit confused on where to start. Pardon my ignorance. I have been using my computational power already with WCG through Bionic app in my mobile devices and linked it to earn Byteball. Is there a way I can also get Gridcoin for the volunteer computing that I'm doing now?

Seems you are new to Gridcoin.
There are 2 options:
The drawback of the 1st solution is that currently you do computations under grcpool, not your individual account. The drawback of the 2st solution is that you need a few thousand GRC and running gridcoin node (wallet).

To be fair, most of those are probably bots :p
I'm in favor of using the twitter account more actively, tweets are useless beyond 15 minutes after their apparition in most cases. As long as it 's on topic, there's no reason it shouldnt be tweeted.
