A few updates for Gridcoinstats.eu

Gridcoinstats remain a heavily visited page, and I thank you all for helping me out with new ideas, finding typos and everything else. I've made a few changes and improvements to the page, as well as some plans for the future.

Current Gridcoin Client RPC Issue

Two out of my three nodes were upgraded to Gridcoin 3.7.3.0 a few days ago. Unfortunately, there where a slight issue with the RPC calls in this version, resulting in that the servers couldn't poll data from the client.

The page is still running reliably, as it still has one node running an older version "just in case." Something that proved handy now :)

The development team is hard at work for fixing this issue, and it looks like it will be merged relatively soon.

Overall Loading Times

I've noticed that the page took a very long time before it started to load, something that's gotten worse the past week. The issue is due to the many concurrent connections that the server received, mainly because I also run a public Bitshares node (bitshares.crypto.fans).

The number of concurrent connections has been increased, as well as the number of requests each connection can make without having to reconnect.

The new settings will likely resolve any loading issues the page may give you.

Faucet Payments Issues

Since the server can't communicate with the client, due to the RPC bug mentioned, there are no payments from the faucet until the fix is released.

You can continue to claim coins, every 24 hours. All allocated coins will be sent at the same time once it will be possible to do so again.

Future Ideas

Open-Source Faucet for Gridcoin

I plan on making an open-source faucet for Gridcoin.

It's still in the planning stage, and not decided exactly how it will work, but it will work on top of my next version of Gridcoinstats API.

Gridcoinstats API

Something that the community lacks is a good and reliable API to use from applications on mobile phones and other platforms that can't have a local version of the client running. Thus I will start working on an API that will be usable

The plan is to provide the API for free for anyone using it for non-commercial versions.

Free

  • Non-Commercial usage
  • Customer specific API keys, requested from Gridcoinstats
  • Some limitations per API key

Paid

  • Free usage everywhere
  • Global API key
  • No Limitations

Nice..
Thank for shearing

All Gridcoin wallet nodes provide a public facing API. It is not JSON, RPC nor RESTful, but it is there. You can get transactions, blocks and more thru it.
