Humans are...well...humans. It may well be true. It may not be. I don't think it invalidates everything else they've done. Perhaps knowing their flaws even drove them to try harder to be better people...even as they failed miserably... If it is true, they need serious counselings. I don't know if they'll get that where they're going. Hopefully the kid winds up alright, wherever they end up.
I don't even really know how to respond to something like this. I just keep thinking about how fucked up all of society is. How fucked up people are, by our own standards. How maybe this whole family structure we've adopted is perhaps wrong. How maybe if there were more people around in the kids life, maybe the situation would have never happened. How maybe if there was more mental help and counselling fundamentally ingrained in society, maybe they'd just be going to counselling to deal with their problems, if it's true of course, and this would never have happened. But society's not even really set up to deal with the realities of life.

It's just so much more shocking when it's someone you know. Meth is a hell of a drug. There are ways and reasons this could not be true, but I guess we have to wait and see.

There are tons of reasons. Someone could have interpreted something someone said as meaning something...then things spiral out of control, and they find their stash...or possibly even for some reason they could have drugs that aren't there's. Maybe they took them away from someone. There are a million and one possibilities that happen all the time that it could be. Or...one of them could be guilty of one or all of the charges... Some of the most revered people in history were blatantly fucked up.

She claims it's a false accusations as part of a custody case — which happens all the time — usually the other way around: mother accusing the father.
Of course now that they found drugs, even if the child molestation changes turn out to be false, she still looses custody.
