Spotlight Open Media Network is an opportunity for everyone on Steem to express themselves in Video, Writing or Art for a chance to win up to 50,000 Steem Power for 1 Week. We aim to elevate entertainment, expertise, literature and art and draw attention from all across the globe.

Feedback

The response to Spotlight has been strong. Our Vision & Timeline was supported by several well respected users on Steemit including @andrarchy, @jerrybanfield and @adsactly.

Additionally we have gained 52 members on Discord since launching 6 days ago. We're from all over the world and available 24/7 to answer any questions new members and participants may have.

Mission/Vision Statement

We plan to spur massive content creation by offering large sum, short term delegation prizes to users that can effectively create and popularize their content.

Spotlight aims to:

• Find the brightest and the best, and reward them well for their efforts.

• Educate people on the benefits of using rewards for curation.

Our team

• @gktown an early Bitcoin miner turned academic with a focus in Cognitive Psychology, and Applied Ethics. Exp in Team Building, Mass Social Media Outreach, and Consumer Psychology.
• @steemitqa, a veteran community manager for several fantastic projects including Zappl.
• @sasha.shade a Community Manager for #TeamPhilippines
• @shrey, our Creative Manager has brought on a team of writers and is taking applications for the remaining 2 positions.

Spotlight MVP

We have launched our MVP to show the community how we intend to operate and that there is interest. We have had several fantastic video entries [1] [2] [3] [4]

@gktown has experience running contests on social media, gaining over 9000 entries per contest on Instagram with consistency.

Problem

The contests on steemit often operate by giving SBD or Steem to the winners. For argument sake, lets say that 75% of that money ends up on Bittrex.

Solution

Our contests give short term, high value delegation rewards. This means our prize pool is free to grow over time, and the amount of content that each steem produces will increase. On the other side, the contest winner will reinvest a minimum of 50% of their winnings.

Spotlight plans to educate users on how to best utilize their prize by emphasizing the benefits of curating and networking.

Desired Outcome

Spotlight will spur massive content creation in the steemit community, and draw users in from all parts of the globe to compete.

Timeline

Launch

Spotlight began with a simple idea, launched with help from @picokernel. Find talented, educated and creative steemians. Give them the resources they need to grow larger, faster, using methods that involve greater reinvestment in steem.

Grow

Our growth phase is our next stretch goal. We aim to increase our weekly prizes to 50,000 SP. This will increase reach and interest in the Spotlight contests and begin to draw crowds to see who the top are each week.

Scale

Our content strategy is simple, each contest will have an official account on every popular social media network. We will send out top posts from Spotlight tags to each account. We will also be operating these accounts to grow the spotlight audience, and bring them directly to top content on Steemit.com This effort will be daily and 1000s of interactions per day. Reports available by request.

Giving Back:

Spotlight aims to provide value to Steemians. Once the Steem UIA has launched, we'll begin depositing 10% of our SBD profits into a Spotlight Community Coin.

The goal with a Spotlight Community Coin is to give the token to people who contribute. This is not a token sale, but instead a distribution.

There is more in the Spotlight pipeline, but at this time we'll focus on making this timeline happen.

• Operating Budget: 2500 Steem per month covers our social media team providing outreach for the entire Spotlight Open Network, funneling interested users directly to Steemit en masse. With this addon, Spotlight will employ proprietary software, that with a small team, can disseminate content across multiple platforms and accounts.
• Advertising: 2500 Steem per month, advertising posts on google and facebook.
• 100% SBD up to 100 per authored post goes directly to the creative team (Authoring, Editing, Photography, Video)

We want to show the world fantastic content, that means growing social accounts that lead back to quality content, posting regularly and advertising those posts on google and facebook.
