In the U.S. at least, groypers is associated with Nicholas Fuentes who identifies with the “Catholic fascism” of Franco’s Falange, anti-immigration and anti-gay elements of the alt-right. Maybe there are different connotations in Europe?

Yeah, everything is different in every country, across Europe included.
Our media is often tainted/brushed with Americo-centric view of the world, so lots of people go on about the rise of nazis and racists in the UK for example, despite us being probably the least racist place in the world, with maybe less than 100 Nazis in total out of a population of 70 million.
I might be conflating/equivocating the word Groyper with the ethno-nationalism over here, or it just has different connotations. Some British Ethno-nationalists refer to themselves as alt-right when they mean alternative to mainstream right, as opposed to neo-nazis; (As the Conservative isn't really Conservative for example.)
Ethno-nationalism doesn't really make sense to me in regards to the USA, but I can understand wanting to protect/conserve the culture from things like rapid demographic changes driven by mass influx of people from other cultures, leaving no room for integration.
