When we are students of Medicine, the clock can run in favor, against or even sometimes gives the feeling that it does not even run: for example we can arrive early to a class and calmly wait for it to start but we can also arrive late and almost never find A place to sit - and with more reason if we walk with the added stress of working while studying or if our home is far from the university or the hospital. Now let's imagine that we are on duty in a hospital, day and night at the emergency door, taking care of patients with virtually no rest, patients that sometimes give the feeling that they never stop coming. Perhaps there we will be in two of the three situations we raised at the beginning: that the clock runs against it or that it seems that time does not pass. It could be argued that it is a curious mixture, because we are dedicated to what we love, but at a constant dizzying pace and with maximum self-demand without margin of error, because the medical degree is nothing more than this: a pleasant and at the same time hard responsibility.
Many of us explain this decision to immerse ourselves in medicine as the feeling of an inner need - the true vocation -, a feeling of personal gratification for surrender to our fellow men; taking into account that our action will not only serve to treat or cure the sick but also to improve the quality of life of an entire community. It is said soon, but behind there is much, much effort.
