Guitar review

As promised this is a review of the guitar I built (perhaps I should say assembled, although the body was finished by me).
It is in the style of a thinline telecaster with some very cool accoutrements!

Starting with the DaVinci machine heads by Schaller. With an 18:1 ratio, theses are smooth. If you haven't seen these before take a close look:

Next is a laser etched neck plate:

The tail piece is from Babicz. It is the Full Hardware Contact tail piece which provides the ability of string though body, or through just the tail piece. This is a masterful piece of guitar hardware:

The body is ash with a 1/4" figured maple top. I used TrueOil to finish it, starting with 220 grit between coats finishing up with 600 grit. I spent about a month on the body to get the finish I wanted.

For electronics I opted for the Fender Noiseless and have been very satisfied with the tonal response.

Last, but not least I purchased a Mighty Mite neck which I am reasonably satisfied with.

This guitar is light weight, wicked fast with excellent sustain. Harmonically and sonically it is really smooth and even. If you have ever thought about doing something like this yourself I highly recommend it as it comes with a great deal of satisfaction.
Now I must go practice!

Nice! What does it cost to build one like that ?

This came in around $700 USD

Well it sure is pretty, and worth every penny!

I think so, and thank you!

Very cool @brimax

Thank you Brother.

That's a good lookin top. Where did you get the kit?

Thanks for checking it out. This wasn't a kit, I sourced each part individually.

Whoops! I misread that first part. Not even sure where I got the world kit. My apologies! Got any videos so we can hear it?

That's a mighty fine sounding guitfiddle! I've never really learned how to play lead. Much more rhythm. I'll leave all the fancy picking to guys like you who know what they are doing. :)

Very cool man. I always like my hand assembled Canadian guitar and that finish is looking fresh!

Thank you my good man!

my tiny upvote goes here.. great job.. I know you love your guitar because of the joy it brings you .. really something to be proud of @steevc thanks for sharing @brimax 's post

Thank you!

Nice choice on the top. Wish I had some quilted solid maple. All I have is veneer right now I plan on building another guitar in the next few years to ad to my collection.

A nice veneer can be really pretty as a top!

excellent post!!!!! Can we get a follow up and hear it? What a beauty! Nice work!

Thank you kindly sir. I did a post with it here: https://steemit.com/openmic/@brimax/openmic-week-37-original-called-steemit-country
Hope you enjoy.

It's a beaut. I expect it brings you a lot of pleasure

It sure does, and thank you kindly for resteeming. You Brother are appreciated!

You sir are very talented! What a beauty...

Thank you my good man!

Did you have to drill your own holes for all the screws? Did it make you nervous since it's a hollow body?

You do realize that you're going to have to make a video so we can hear it ;)

Yes regarding the hole drilling....nerves of steel! Here is a taste of it: https://steemit.com/openmic/@brimax/openmic-week-37-original-called-steemit-country

Sounded great!

Thanks taking a listen. You are appreciated!

Love this thing! Sweet, sweet axe! Thanks for the detailed showing of it. Much appreciated. Was worth the wait. I think the bridge or tail piece is fantastic along with the tuners (both new to me) but then again the top and fingerboard are beautiful ..... aw hell the whole thing is just a sweet thing of beauty......... Nice job and one to proud of. Enjoyed brother.

Thanks for your comments Brother, much appreciated!

Really nice flame maple top on that body! I assume that it is only a semi hollow body. Did you get a specific fretboard radius on the neck, or a standard radius?

You are correct, it is only semi hollow. The radius is 9.5". Thanks for taking a look!
