English speakers often pronounce the company name as /ˈtækəmaɪn/ ("ta - ka - mine"), but the correct pronunciation in the original Japanese, is /tɑːkɑːˈmiːneɪ/ ("ta - ka - mee - nay").[citation needed] The name comes from Mount Takamine located in Nakatsugawa.[citation needed]
