The Best Guitarist You’ve Never Heard Of

I heard Lincoln Brewster tearing it up back in 1999 when he released his first album. He performs mainly Christian rock as a genre and I was a youth pastor when I first slid his CD into my deck in my Suzuki Swift. His album had way more horsepower than my car ever did.

I remember his guitarwork being simply otherworldly and so interesting to my ear. He was very selectively adding in these incredibly tasty harmonics which you can hear if you listen closely.

For those who don’t know Lincoln I’d like to start you off with the very first track off his very first album called He’s All I Need.

One of the best guitar solos I’ve ever heard put together occurs at 3:07 of the song so at least listen to the solo if nothing else! Then catch his outro solo filled with incredible harmonic notes on the fly at 4:10

Lincoln continues to tour and is committed to church work to this day. He is one of those rare artists who, in my opinion, truly shares what he knows. For years he used Line 6 pedal boards and would share his settings online for people to download and load into their Line 6 pedal boards as well. All that to say that guitarists at his level truly know the sound is mainly in their hands and fingers.

In fact, it is largely because of Lincoln that I use zero effects on my Fender Strat when I perform. I may add some down the road but I’ve been playing without effects for many years now and I’ve kinda gotten used to it! My theory was always to get the most I could out of my instruments clean and maybe add effects later if I really felt I was missing something.

In case no one told you today,
You are beautiful,
Love,
Bug
