Bearing the unique distinction of being the world’s largest salt marshland, the Great Rann of Kutch (as it is also called) is an expansive stretch of land situated from the great Thar Desert in Gujarat to Sindh in Pakistan. The Rann remains inundated with water during the monsoons and transforms into a stunningly beautiful white land in winters bringing out its majestically shimmering face when seen in the moonlight. One of the special attractions at the Rann is the famous Rann Utsav, organized by the government.
The place being an average township is a haven of traditional crafts from wood-carving, tie and dye, embroidery, pottery, metal crafts etc. The best time to visit the Rann is in the winters when, apart from a pleasing weather, is the time for Rann Utsav. Moreover, to enjoy the best views, time your visit during the full moon for a magical experience.
