Since I'm a gun owner, and a pretty vocal 2A advocate, you could be forgiven for assuming that I'm an NRA member. I mean, the anti-gun people have made the NRA public enemy number one for decades. And, yes, whenever I buy a gun, there's an NRA pamphlet.
I used to be an NRA member. Then, I grew up and got smarter.
The NRA is pretty far removed from my values now. My relationship with the NRA is similar to my relationship of the ACLU.
At one point, I thought that the NRA was a pretty strong defender of our 2A rights. Now, it's more of a hunting club. They even support universal background checks, which is cryptic language for a national gun registry.
I don't own guns to shoot deer. I own guns to protect myself and my loved ones. I also own guns in case we need to overthrow the government.
