His full name is Duncan McCloud (of the Clan Mccloud, a la "The Highlander" movie and TV series).

Duncan is a one month old male Fancy Dragon/Half Black Blue hybrid guppy.

Just like his eponym, while those around him have perished from cannibalistic marauders, peer group bullies and plague (tank-wide ich, parasites and bacterial infections), he always seems to stay alive.

And as he matures, his vivid colors are coming out; colors that would look awesome on a kilt or in a coat of arms.

Ironically, I almost culled him at birth because I thought he was deformed. But I let him be. I knew that nature would probably cull him for me (most abnormal, distressed or handicapped fry don't survive more than a couple).

But days, then weeks went by and he was still alive. In fact, he was growing and swimming better than his peers.

His odd, torpedo-like shape and upturned torso results in superior aquadynamics; enabling him to maneuver (forward, backward, shoot to the surface or dive-bomb) quickly and precisely. I've watched him cut what I would call "near impossible angles" through the water and execute movements that even full-grown guppies can't do.

I'm sure he's going to be a handsome, colorful and entertaining guppy in my 45 gallon community tank.

(Glad I chose not to do a hasty "judge and cull" in the beginning.)

Submitted FYI.

May you and yours be well and loving life today.
