Starting new habits

in habits •  last year

Not exactly sure how this works, but let me give it a try:

A few months ago I decided to try out a few new habits like reading (actual books) and taking some online trainings. I was never the kind of person who picked up books and actually thought about investing in myself, but some personal issues started piling up and I soon realised that what I often tell my daughter is the most undoubtedly truth in the world:

"You harvest what you sow". And I realised I haven't been sowing a lot lately. At least not to my potential.

I actually had this tattooed in the original latin (from the hebrew, mind) in my forearm a few days ago.

Funny how things are... Yesterday I was a bit depressed so I thought about skipping my reading (usually after work from 7pm to 8:XX) and I felt bad for skipping it. The result? I came back and just started reading and it ended up being one the best reading sessions I've ever had. The subject of the chapter was captivating and had me flowing through the chapters without even looking at my phone or feeling bored. The only reason I stopped was hunger.

Because I believe this has now become a habit, I decided to read a book called Atomic Habits, by James Clear. I've been using it as my "nightstand" book for a few weeks.

I have no idea what will happen to this "post", so, if it goes as I think it will, I'll likely start a daily thing with different subjects so I can revisit in the future and see what I've been journaling about.
