Steemit PSA - Watch Out For User "Weenis" !

in hack •  8 years ago  (edited)

There is someone running a bot that is copying and pasting comments on almost every post that goes up. This bot has been running for many hours, as you can see on his post page. It has been spamming similar messages for a while. If it's not a bot, it's a user attempting to game the system.

Weenis just started the account and already has 920 posts which he has spammed. Likely, when this account has been accused of hacking a REAL user takes over and makes a comment for pity. Then he resumes spamming the same copy and paste compliments across Steemit.

Please don't encourage him and make sure you FLAG, so that developers take notice and perhaps the Steem Slack channel can get his account banned somehow. They seem to be able to attach a Cheetah bot onto malicious users, which will forever flag and down vote the user it's attached to. It may try to convince you it's real and just has very bad English and is only trying to bring encouragement, or some other babble.

Share this info and let's keep out community growing supportively! =D

I agree. Seems its promotes very bad behaviour.

I actually replied to that bot. Lol

Likewise! He tricked me...TWICE. Until I literally clicked on his profile and saw the posts he was submitting. He even had to justify himself twice many hours ago, lol. What a blight.

Hopefully this will bring about a way to stop this exact thing from happening, similar to an immune system shit heads are on the internet.

Yeah. We need some sort of immune system response to be automated, if a user attempts to copy and paste past a certain limit. Or if that user is repeatedly called a bot for whatever reason. Maybe something like an instant captcha lol :)

Thank you for posting. Hope you get this to snowball to the top!
I up-voted you too... BTW, should steemit let us steemers advertise using steem? Be sure to tell everyone you know to come vote here at: https://steemit.com/steemit/@kingtylervvs/if-steemit-ever-does-decide-to-advertise-there-is-only-1-way-it-could-work-in-my-opinion-debate

This is a democratic community decision.

lol was wondering who weenis was cause I've seen him post on almost everything I've looked at in the past few hours. Will flag when I see him again, cheers.

Cheers! Yeah, we all need to get on it. Who ever is running him is siphoning funds out of the comments sections just by commenting first and getting up votes over MANY posts.

@crypt0 While I totally agree Wenis is annoying and is probably run by the same person who owns Wang (considering the naming similarities and their relation to human anatomy), I don't think this person is getting the benefit that they hope for nor the benefit you claim.

The system here causes a split on rewards between the OP and the comment poster. The closer to 0 minutes after a post, the more of the comment rewards goes to the OP and the less goes to the commentors. This is true up to about 30 minutes. Only after commenting after the topic is over 30 minutes old does the reward go to the commentator instead of the OP.

But I do agree he's raising the noise floor and needs to be stopped.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing that, and I'm glad he's not being as devious as hoped. I thought Wang was ran by the developers, but perhaps that's not the case? These bots could multiply and ruin this system if we don't find a way to target them asap.

Hopefully we find a cure soon, and until then I'll keep flagging.
Cheers.

Don't flaging him, this will reflect upon yourself.
We only upvote, please see my first post above.
Thanks

I just wrote a post about the spamming problems here on steemit coming from bots. The headline of your post actually made me laugh out loud :) To be honest I have a feeling he is not exactly a bot but really investing a lot of time into spamming the system. Which of course also sucks. But also it does make him a bit adorable when connected with his broken english :)

Strange weenis didn't liked this post aswell, it would be kindly ironical.
