A group of researchers discovered malicious code inside some WAV audio files, which hackers used to undermine crypto currencies.
Hackers earn thousands of dollars every month
Researchers at BlackBerry Cylance, a company that develops antivirus software, reported the presence of malicious code hidden within WAV audio files. In particular, the company explains:
"During playback, some of the WAV files produced music without any glitches or obvious quality problems. Others, on the other hand, simply generated static noise.
These files allow hackers to install miners inside their victims' devices, stealing their computing power and generating thousands of dollars a month through crypto currency mining.
For this reason, in recent years, miners have become very popular among hackers, as they allow you to generate steady profits without the user realizing: an attack commonly known as cryptojacking.
