Concerning @haejin and the Steem Poker League (@SPL)

The short version: There's a pissing match going on between cryptocurrency analyst @haejin and the Steem Poker Leage (@spl). I don't know who started it and I don't care that much.

What I do know is that people associated with @spl (e.g. @themarkymark) are finding their posts down-voted, and the earnings driven to zero, by @haejin and/or associates. It's those earnings that provide for the prize pools in the poker games in question.

I'm the typical privileged white American male, as an "SJW" would put it. The prize pools at the Steem Poker League don't make the difference between eating and not eating for me. I play there because it's fun and because I want to become a better poker player, not because I expect to get rich.

But it's been called to my attention that some of the players there are from countries where a dollar or two a day in prospective poker winnings could make a real difference in their standards of living.

Which means that whatever the merits of the arguments, @haejin and company are actively taking food out of poor people's mouths, not just costing some crypto millionaire a works car wash for his Ferrari.

One of the great selling points for crypto in general and for an authorship/curation driven crypto system like Steem in particular is that it enables a worldwide exchange paradigm in which poor people can hope to achieve better lives through their own efforts without silly things like borders getting in the way.

It just so happens that I like @haejin's writings and have no problem with how much money he knocks down with them -- that's up to the community and its voting power, right? So I hope anyone who's got a jealousy complex will knock off whatever they're doing to goad him.

And I'm publicly asking @haejin to stop f**king over people who never did him any harm and who just want to play some poker and maybe get a bite to eat that they otherwise couldn't afford.
