How to grow your hair faster

How and when you wash your hair makes a big difference. "Your scalp houses your hair follicles, the tiny organs that make your hair grow," explains Dr. Burg. "An inflamed, irritated or damaged scalp can disrupt signaling in the follicles and, in turn, alter the health of the hair cycle and potentially lead to reduced growth and/or hair cycle dysfunction."
So what causes inflammation? Dry shampoo is one of the main culprits, along with other products of the same type. If you regularly use dry shampoo as a substitute for a real wash, you'll get silicon buildup from conditioners, hair sprays, and styling products. "It's important to cleanse regularly with mild, sulfate-free cleansers to keep your scalp in good health," says Burg. "Added anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as rosemary oil and salicylic acid from willow, can ease inflammatory processes. As a rule, you should cleanse twice a week or more, depending on your hair type and scalp. "

Deep conditioning is essential to prevent breakage and split ends, so do it once a week. Dr. Burg suggests looking for hair-building and repairing ingredients such as hydrolyzed keratin and wheat protein, as well as natural moisturizing oils such as baobab and flaxseed.
Avoid silicones (look for dimethicone on the label), because while they make your hair look shiny, they actually coat it, leading to buildup over time that can prevent moisture penetration, making hair more brittle and prone to breakage.
To maximize the benefits, use a deep conditioner that can be left in overnight. If you color, chemically treat, heat your hair regularly, or get too much sun, the hair fibers are weaker, so extra TLC will be needed. "Hydrated hair is more elastic and therefore more protected and less prone to breakage," says Skjoth. "Infusing your hair with plenty of moisture will help keep it long and strong.

Get a haircut?

We'll bust that myth now - cutting hair doesn't actually make hair grow faster, "but regular cuts help maintain growth," says Skjoth. "Dead ends make hair look shorter, so for anyone who wants it to be longer, trimming the ends regularly is always a good idea."

How to make your hair grow faster: Comb wisely.

Wet hair is the most vulnerable hair; therefore, be careful when dealing with it. "To avoid breakage, try not to brush your hair when it's wet," says Burg. "Instead, detangle your hair before taking a shower with a wide tooth comb and brush again when it's at least partially dry." The right tools can also help. For beginners, invest in a good detangling brush with cushioned bristles made with natural ingredients, such as wood and boar bristles, which are gentler on your strands.

Change your pillowcase.

You'll feel like a princess - and have the hair of one - when you sleep on a silk pillowcase. "Silk doesn't catch and pull on your hair, and it doesn't draw out moisture like cotton does," says Burg. Similarly, low-quality hair elastics can also damage hair. Look for plastic spiral ties without seams, and avoid metal clips that can catch and break hair.
