Hair transplant in Dubai is one of the most sought-after aesthetic surgery to address hair loss. It is an affordable and permanent solution to thinning and receding hair.
Hair transplant surgery involves taking healthy hair follicles from an area having thick hair, known as the donor area, and planting them in the thinning hair or balding area by the process of skin grafting. The donor area can be from the scalp or any other part of the body. The transplanted hair eventually fall off and, new hair starts growing from the grafted area in a few months. So, the hair looks natural unlike, the wigs used by many people.
Though the procedure seems to be a simple one, there are a lot of pre and post-operative precautions that you need to follow to make a hair transplant in Dubai
successful.
When you go to meet a consultant, he will do some tests. He will take details about your medical condition, the medicines you are taking, your lifestyle etc. He may give you a list of dos and don'ts for your surgery.
Listed below are some dos and don’ts that you need to follow in the pre-surgery stage:
DOs before Hair transplant in Dubai:
- Wash your hair and scalp rigorously on the evening before and on the day of the surgery. It removes any dirt or impurities stuck to your hair/scalp.
- Ask your doctor for any special shampoo you will have to use before surgery
- You must wear loose and comfortable clothes – that has buttons in the front so that you do not have to pull them over the head.
- Make some arrangements with your friend or anyone to take you home after surgery as you may be under the effect of anaesthesia and will not be able to drive.
- If you have diabetes, inform the surgeon and discuss your medication and diet management on surgery day.
DON’Ts before a Hair transplant in Dubai:
- Avoid taking Aspirin, Anti-inflammatory medicine, Alcohol, Multivitamins, Vitamin B, Vitamin E or Herbal supplements seven days before the surgery as they may increase the risk of bleeding.
- You must stop smoking a few days before the surgery and specifically on the day of the surgery as it reduces the blood flow to the scalp.
- Take any medicines the day before or on the day of the surgery. Take them if the surgeon has asked you to do so.
- Drink coffee for a few days as it increases blood pressure and can increase bruising.
- Cut or colour your hair just before or after the surgery. Hair colour may irritate the incisions if they are applied just before or after surgery. If you have long hair, it will help you to cover the sutures or staples after surgery.
Post-surgery you will have to follow some instructions to make the surgery a successful one. Here are some pointers for the same:
DOs before Hair transplant in Dubai:
- The day after the surgery, you will have a follow-up appointment with the surgeon. Your scalp and hair will be shampooed and blow-dried before the examination of the scalp. After that, it is better to keep the scalp dry while it heals.
- Wash your hair with a mild shampoo and blow-dry your hair. Rubbing your hair with a towel may dislodge your transplanted hair.
- Apply antibiotic ointment given by the doctor. It will prevent any infections and reduce swelling and irritation.
- Sleep in an upright position to reduce the swelling. To elevate your head, put two or three pillows under your head or use a recliner.
- Take painkillers prescribed by the doctor 3-4 hours after the effect of the anaesthesia wears off.
- Follow the customised instructions given by the hospital or clinic.
DON’Ts after Hair transplant in Dubai:
- Use hairspray for at least a week as it may cause irritation
- Play any sports or do strenuous exercises that cause sweating. Sweating will irritate the scalp.
- Avoid exposing your scalp to sunlight for a few days as the scalp is swollen and tender and, the heat of the sun will cause irritation and aggravate the swelling. Use hat if required.
- Do not injure your scalp while combing your hair. Comb your hair carefully and untangle your hair carefully with your hands.
- Do not scratch your scalp. You may feel the urge to scratch your scalp when you experience itching due to irritation in the scalp. Scratching may dislodge the transplanted hair follicles.
- Do not worry if your new hair falls off. The transplanted hair will fall off in 2-3 weeks and, new hair will grow in its place.
