I was taking these pictures when a lady came up to me to ask perplexed whether this was to commemorate a road traffic accident? Was it a monument on this dangerous corner alerting us to the chaotic new traffic situation owing to the perpetual roadworks in the High Street? Taking a closer look she then wondered, how many lives had there actually been lost?

Having just figured out for myself that it probably had something to do with Halloween, I explained this horrific display as such. She supposed it was all part of the deal we had to buy into: Americanisation. I simpered an apology on behalf of my American friends and added that it ought to have come with a viewing guideline of 16+.
