String mandalas

If you were around in the 1970s, you will remember all the bad-taste handcrafts involving string: macrame, nailboards and bad weaving. I found this lampshade relic in the cottage I am busy renovating and I actually quite like it so of course I had to make some odd images of it. The top image is from the inside.

And for fun, a colour image

I think that it had all the dust-bunnies from the last 40 years on it, the layer of dust and fluff was so thick, you could literally peel it off. I took the vacuum cleaner to it but a few strands remain. I will give it a wash and hang it in my own bedroom, I think. The tenants stole some of the crappy light-fittings in the house when they moved out so I could use some bad retro art around the place. There are some spare ugly light-fittings that I'll put in the cottage instead.

Who put a lot of work and perseverance to make this beautiful lampshade

Yes it was a lot of work

Is like a spider web... someone should teach spiders to make mandalas! hahaha

They already do. Did you ever see the spiders on acid experiments?

Whaaaa?! Spiders on drugs?! Jeez! Adiction is a bad thing, junkie spiders! Ha! 😂

Looks pretty good though how do you dust something like that?

Same as me: a vacuum cleaner

I would probably forget to dust it until it became a different looking work of art all together.
