10 years ago, we started making paper

in handmade •  7 years ago

It's a long story how we ended making paper, but the important thing is we both wanted to try and do something creative with the paper scraps from the office! So began our adventure in the world of pulp!

As we don't have the space or machinery needed for making paper from scrap (from plants directly, although we did try it a few times!), we settled for the quick and easy option - recycling with a blender. We used old blenders with dull blades as to not cut the fibers of the paper too much.

The process is quick and easy and leaves tons of room for creativity! Right away our first samples were noticed and we started doing orders for handmade paper envelopes and cards and letter paper.

By the way, that orange-brown spot in the paper on the left is an onion skin! Onion skins are super attractive when the paper is held against a light, like this:

Sometimes, when I close my eyes, I cannot make myself believe it's been 10 years - it seems that our humble paper making beginning was just a few months ago! Time really does fly when you're enjoying something! We have collected plenty of photos and projects to share, if anyone is interested?

Yes please post more photos, this paper is so pretty! I am inspired to make some paper for our family...

I've always felt so lucky that my husband and I shared interests and could create together. Sounds like you have something like that too!

Your work is beautiful! There's a page here that's something like ebay, only it's @steembay. You can find an intro here and a good tutorial here.

You might take a look and possibly post some of your stuff there for auction.

Looking forward to more good stuff from you!

Oh you are really lucky, and so are we! It's great! So many friend couples have literally nothing to talk about and do together, not just being present in the same room, but actually do something as a team!

Thanks for the steembay link, I'll pass that along!

This is amazing!

Nice! I'm heading over to check it out now!
