For several years I have been making candles from beeswax and I have studied this topic in details. Usually, I make candles every year once or twice. I have some reserve of wax left from last year.
I use beeswax, that I usually buy from farmers. Since last year, I still have a large reserve, a 12 litres bucket. Such candles have a very pleasant smell and have a wonderful honey color.
Candle is one of the most ancient sources of light. Beeswax - a natural material, resulted in producing honey process. Wax, in contrast to the popular petroleum-derived paraffin and stearin, - material originally natural, clean, rich with fragrance of honey, propolis and essential oils. Burning candle in general is very wonderful and mysterious thing. First, wax becomes oily liquid, the wick absorbs it and converted into a gas. Gas gives light and warmth. Candle is a complete harmony, as combines all 4 elements: fire - the flame of a candle, the water - a liquid wax, during combustion, the air is heated and flowing upwards, the earth - the candle itself as a solid substance. But the candle wax is not only an original piece of furniture, it carries a therapeutic effect. Wax contained in essential oils, propolis resin and of course live fire pacify naturally cleanse and harmonize the atmosphere, do not allow bacteria to spread and help to better cope with the disease. Therefore beeswax candles can be used for the prevention of colds and viral infections. It's enough to light a candle every day for 2-3 hours, to disinfect the premises.
Sooooo, let us start :)
Candles can be done in different ways. It can be done pouring the wax into the mold. Or by dipping the wick into the container with a wax. I'll show you two.
we need:
weight, which can be bought in the fishing shop, crocodiles, which can be bought at a hardware store.
candle wick.
Melt the wax on a water bath
Or you can make it in silicone molds
or in glass jar
almost done
then cut
This candle was burning from 6 pm
I hope this helps if you are wanting to try to make beewax candles! I will answer any questions you may have about the process.
Hope that you enjoy my post :)

They burn quite a long time! Question: how many times do you need to keep dipping them, and do you need to wait for the wax to harden inbetween dips, ? lol! Ive also seen them made with 2 candles on one wick, one on each side, then the buyer just cuts the wick for 2 candles! Cool post, im hopeing to move to the country hopefully next summer! And candles will be a nice hobby out there to make! Thanks for shareing! 🐝🐝🐝

first time, you dip them for 20 seconds, to make wick filled with wax, then only for 5 seconds. Moving to the country is a great idea, it is my dream :)

Thanks for the info! And is there a special size of rope or cord to buy for the wick? Like in a craft shop?! You must need a deep pot for this lol! And yes i can hardly wait to retire there! We need to put in a power shack on the small piece of property we bought then build a small house. Slowly but surly! If im really lucky, and get alot of whale love it will happen sooner rather then later! Lol 👍♨😂

you are right, it is like in craft shop and for this you need a deep pot. Lately, when we did candles for sale we used 50litred pot, now I use 12litred bucket.
hope that whales will show their great love to you ;)

I have several friends who make their own candles. I even found some candle making brochures from the 60s and 70s with the intention of making my own, but never got around to it. One day maybe. I'd love to have my own bees and harvest my own wax (and honey) first :)

cool,it is not so hard as it seems, I mean both, bees and candle making . we have had bees, you should only visit some course to learn some nuances. to have your own honey is priceless! thanks for your comment @merej99

When I lived in Upstate NY we had a few very tough winters and many of the local bees died. I may have luck now that I live in Florida. I've never kept bees before but it's always been a desire. I'm told the first year of a hive goes to the bees and then in the second year you can begin to harvest the honey and the honeycomb. Good thing I'm a patient woman! LOL
