I tend to check out my home town at least twice a year. It feels great the smell, the air and the water. It gives me lot of energy whenever I visit this place. I have been doing this since the age of 10 years as I was in a boarding school, then college and now UK. I never stayed in my hometown for longer periods may be it is always exciting whenever i go there.

Our railway station- much improved

I have few school friends whom i have known since the age of 6 years and we spend time together by making short road trips on the motorbike and sometimes spend half day in the forest and I cannot explain how peaceful it is.

When I went to India last time we went to see the famous hanging railway bridge bur surprisingly it was dismantled.

It was disappointing to see this knowing its history. We used to travel by this meter gauge railway track to and fro jome to school and it used to take us 20 hrs to reach the destination.

The bridge was built by the British government in 1862 on 270 m height purely by using manual labour in the middle of dangerous Nallamala forest. The bridge was just over a kilometre long and it took 3 years to be completed. 420 tonnes of iron was transported from iron factory in Birmingham.
This is how it looks now

I don’t understand why they had to dismantle the bridge although there is a new railway track was laid. May be India should learn from western countries when it comes to preserving and restoring the old things.

Have a great time steemians.
