There are the days when you feel you have waaay too much of it and it deliberately strolls along. Then there are the other days when you are frustrated because it is just marching along far too quickly. This thing called time... it is such a strange thing!
When you are younger, your wish you time away, always wishing to be one year older, or to reach the magic milestone of 16 or 21. Forever wishing you were 365 sleeps further along than you are, or even a few years further along. And then slowly (or maybe suddenly), as 25 reaches your shore and then passes you by, that big 3-0 looms and for some, it is really quite daunting, dreaded and a sign of youth gone by too quickly!
And then just incredible how time affects us all differently ... at the same time! Just ask the excited young lady in love, waiting for her wedding day to arrive. A week can take forever. Then ask the student studying for exams how quickly that same week cruises by.
Here's a poem, author Unknown that reminds us just how amazing this commodity is:
"Realize"
"To realize the value of one year, ask a student who has failed a final exam.
To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
To realize the value of one week, ask an editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of one minute; ask a person who has missed the train, bus or plane.
To realize the value of one second, ask a person who has survived an accident.
To realize the value of one millisecond, ask the person who has won a silver medal in the Olympics.
Time waits for no one. Treasure every moment you have. You will treasure it even more when you can share it with someone special."
Make the most of what you have.... and remember : You DON'T KNOW how much you have! Spend it wisely! And when the time you are in is frustrating, difficult or horrible, know that time always moves on. It never stops. This will not stay, better things will come along. And if you are enjoying better things, enjoy it. Recognise it. Remember it.
If you want happiness for an hour—take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day—go fishing.
If you want happiness for a month—get married.
If you want happiness for a year—inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime—help others.
